However, I'm aware of unofficial servers existing. If you are an owner of an unofficial server made for Tales of Rein Ravine (or horse games in general), you can promote your server in the comments of this post. 😊
Tales of Rein Ravine does not endorse any of the server...
The newest update to the demo (with the new competition mode!) was planned to come out today, but will be delayed to come out on Wednesday the 23rd instead.
Since the release of the last demo version I've finally begun untangling one of the dumbest issues that Tales of Rein Ravine has had since very early development in 2020: the infamous rein problem. A lot of you will probably guess what I'm tal...

Meet Rose! What color do you think she is, would this be palomino to you or cremello?

Demo is exactly a week away from release! There's still some stuff to do though. Here's a feature that will be be available in the Free Riding mode. You will be able to lower or higher individual jumps in the arena. It's easy and quick, you just walk near an obstacle and use either E (higher) or Q (lower) to modify the jump height. With oxers and triples the length adjusts automatically.
I'm positive that in the full game version there will be other modding tools available, lik...

In this video I'm riding in the arena up in the snowy mountains 🤩
New riding features have been added. You can now switch up a gait instantly by tapping both legs at once (both mouse buttons down at the same time). If you double tap the horse will do a walk-to-canter or stop-to-canter transition. To stop instantly at any time you need to use a total of 3 buttons: A and D (left and right rein) and S (slow down button).
Horse can now be scared of an obstacle. Some horses won't be...

This is the same cozy barn you've seen here and in my Youtube videos a plenty of times. It's been built and rebuilt I think 3 times now. I'm starting to think this will be close to it's final form. I matched the style and textures to the indoor riding arena behind the stable. The loft that this stable previously had is gone, I wanted to have a bigger contrast between this wooden barn and the luxurious white manor, and I felt like the loft was better suited there.

This is what the luxurious barn looks like nowadays!

Today I started re-making the landscape. The old landscape was unfortunately too performance heavy for the size it needs to be. I want there to be a lot of mountains and valleys and of course the ravine which is what the whole area is named after (Rein Ravine 😎). The textures and the style will stay the same as in the pictures you've seen before, just the terrain will go through some changes.

One of the most common requests I get is to add hunter style jumping courses. To those of you who haven't heard of hunters, it's like a mix of dressage and showjumping. Showjumping is only judged by knocked poles and time, meaning that the boldest rider with the most risk-taking typically wins. Hunter jumping is artistic showjumping that also judges finer details such as horse's manners, rider's equitation, overall smoothness of riding, horse's jumping style, and even attire....

I'm starting a series exclusively here on Patreon where I tell you about the various game mechanics of Tales of Rein Ravine in more detail than I've done anywhere else. Bits and pieces of this stuff you might have previously read about on my Instagram, but since I've taken down a big chunk of the earlier posts due to them not being a good example of the game anymore, most of it is gone.
Today's topic is the HORSE'S STAMINA and how this element affects the gameplay.

Here's a new riding arena. The textures are not yet finished (like the ground is not supposed to have leaves 🤣). I'm obsessed with the first person camera mode 😍 The camera is now a lot smoother and the rider's hands are better positioned for the camera view. There's a button that lets the player switch between the cameras at any point during riding. You can also zoom the first person camera in and out with the mouse wheel. In the video you can see the widest view which is like looking ...

The hot blooded horse gets excited when it sees a jump. There's now additional canter and gallop animations when the horse is excited vs cantering normally. Also more ear movement added.

Been testing out a this kind of sand material that's able to receive "real" hoofprints instead of just flat hoofprint pictures on the ground. This material is too render heavy for the lower graphics settings but for those who are able to play with higher graphics I think its a nice addition of realism. The material will likely only be used in the riding arenas and maybe the beaches, I'm afraid having it all over the map would cause performance issues.

Improved the rider's jumping position on bigger jumps!

I'm working on creating a larger variety of obstacles, here you can see the planks and decorations I added. The planks are introduced at intermediate showjumping level (90cm and up) and they fall down somewhat easier than the round poles. Animations are getting small improvements all the time, recently I made the jump smoother / more realistic in terms of height, the rider is not so stick anymore when cantering and trotting (the walk I haven't touched yet), also the horse leans to the sides w...
