Hey everyone, Resolute here again. As the form above says, my family and I are putting together a memorial book about Wilds's life and writing. It will be gifted to his family at his celebration of life event.
Even if you're following for free, I'm willing to guess his writing (at the very least) touched your life. It'd mean a lot to all of us if you could write even a short message—it doesn't have to be perfect, just from the heart.

Resolute (the boyfriend) here. I wish I didn't have to give this update.
For those who aren't aware, Wilds passed away a week ago. I still don't know the full details, please don't ask. While his surgery and follow-up were successful, at least one fungal infection had spread to other parts of his body, including his lungs. Without a functioning immune system, things declined very rapidly. I know I tried to strike an optimistic beat in the previous update, but... he had so much stacked a...

Hello friends and readers... I have been forced to undergo extensive emergency surgery.
I meant to post an update before hand, but don't seem to have managed to post it here.
So here is a longer update from my bf, to explain what's happening.
*******
Hey everyone, Resolute (the boyfriend) here. Wilds meant to post before he went into surgery again but the system ate it. So here's what's happened since his last post—skip to the TLDR if you're squeamish about m...

Just to let everyone know, I am in the hospital again for now. Been here a little over a week, not sure when I'll get out right now. I don't currently have a laptop with me though I may break down and buy a decent one for purposes of writing and posting etc whenever I'm in here. At least, in so far as my lines etc will allow.
For now, I hope to be out sooner or later so I can get back to writing and posting. With any luck I'll be back out in time to get at least two chapters up for the ...

“Who is this fucker?” Argos paced back and forth in his cabin, his hands balled up into fists, his teeth gnashing. “And who the fuck does he think he is, fucking with us like that?” The coyote whirled towards the sofa, where Rivi and Iosa both sat. He snapped his jaws. “Who the fuck does he think he’s fucking with?”
“Argos,” Iosa said, her voice measured, and calm. “Take a breath.”
Rivi rubb...

Rivi awoke slowly, and awash in darkness. His back ached. So did his shoulder. The cheetah shifted, and found himself laying against something hard, flat, and uncomfortable. His feet were cold, despite the soft, warm blankets that smothered him. Rivi groaned, rubbing his face. He could not even make out the faintest silhouette of his own hand beneath the blankets. He tried to sit up, only to bang his shoulder on something sharp, and solid.<...

Argos sat alone at a table in the back corner of a cozy little coffee shop. The café was located on one of the shared use decks, though he scarcely remembered which one. It hardly mattered to the coyote. What did matter was that the coffee shop was open all hours, allowing him to get a fresh cup of coffee at even at the god-awful early time he’d crawled out of bed. Since then, one cup had turned into three, and the once-empty space now buzzed...

( As a brief heads-up, this chapter was originally intended to be earlier, but I put it aside, and went to write about Krek for a while, and never got back to it. In the eventual final version, chapter order will be rearranged. In the meantime, if you'd like to refresh yourself and re-read the first part of this scene, it was posted as Chapter Twenty-Two. https://www.patreon.com/posts/101450000 Events mention...

Hello folks,
Another not-so-quick update for you.
I'd love to say my health has improved to start the new year, but it hasn't. In fact, it's been even worse. At the very beginning of January, I finally caught Covid for the first time. As a friend of mine put it, it figures that I managed to dodge it for four years, only for it to finally hit me when I'm already dealing with so many complicating health factors. I'd been to conventions and hosted room parties, went to a wedding, w...

Argos sat in a padded, gold and green floral pattern chair, back in the cabin. Not long after they’d finished their coffee, Argos took Rivi back to the cabin so the cheetah could put his camera equipment away. Now, Argos watched Rivi as the cheetah agonized over which of his many suitcases to begin unpacking first. Rivi took one hardened case down, opened it, then closed it again and returned it to the overstuffed luggage cart. He removed anoth...

Argos had never seen someone so excited about newspapers. Rivi scurried back and forth between long rows of racks displaying papers from around the world. He wove in and out of other, less excited browsers, pausing now and then to mutter to himself about some particularly exciting newspaper title, or location of origin. Sometimes he lifted one partway up, scanned the headlines, and then set it back down the moment another caught his eye. Argos, f...

Chapter Twelve
*****
Rivi had rarely felt so impure, and yet so completely at peace. In his head, he knew what he was doing was wrong. That Argos was not simply keeping him steady, but holding him. Rivi was not quite so naïve as to view it in any romantic sort of context, given that he’d only known Argos since the previous day. Yet, neither was it a purely platonic gesture. Argos held Rivi against his body as he might cradle someone he was courting. Ri...

Happy New Year everyone!
Sorry for the sparse updates this month. Most of my spare time and energy went towards things like... holiday shopping/holiday stuff, going to doctor visits and blood transfusions, and working on this year's Christmas story for SF. It's posted there if you want to read it! It also talks a lot about my health issues.
Hopefully this coming year will be a better one for my health wise, and a great year for everyone in general.
With any luck we'll be ...

Argos smiled at the cheetah. “Well then, shall we finally head to dinner?”
“Yes, please! I’m ever so hungry.” Rivi hesitated, flattening his ears. “But wait. What if someone sees us coming out of the closet together?”
The coyote stared at Rivi, unsure if he was joking or not. When it became clear the cheetah was serious, he cracked the door open to peek into the hallway. A few people walked passed in either direction. Argos ...

Argos cradled the sobbing cheetah until Rivi had cried out his all his tears. Until today, it had been a long damn time since he’d tried console someone so overwhelmed with their own emotions. And now, he’d done so twice in a matter of hours, and for the same person. Argos wondered if Rivi was always so quick to tears, or whether this was a rarity for him, too. The coyote got the feeling was the sort who wore most of his emotions on his sleeve. ...

Argos led Rivi back through The Worldstrider, towards one of the few dining halls already open. Between the extended boarding process, and the growing swirl of confusion around what was being removed from the ship and what wasn’t, most of the vessels shops and eateries remained closed. Normally, most of them would be open for business in time for departure, but Argos doubted that was going to be the case this time.
Before he’d met...

Impure. That was what they called it. A form of deviant thought, and behavior, relating to an unnatural attraction to one’s own sex. Left unchecked, impurity was the sort of deep, and abiding sin that spread a taint so dark it could damage even the very soul. For the good of the people, and for the safety of their souls, impure acts were wholly outlawed by The Church of the Divine Weavers. Impure thoughts were harder to police, but not impossible to...

Rivi busied himself best he could while Argos spoke to the concierge on his behalf. He inspected his belongings, pleased to see nothing had moved about, or rifled through. Rivi decided to document the great crowds that swelled inside the grand vessel. Now that he was out of the worst of the elements, it was a good a time as any to take a few color photographs. He retrieved his Crystal Colormaster 7-5, and took a number of images with it. The Crystal ...

Hi folks! I've decided to go ahead and start a Royal Road account, as well. They're running a NaNoWriMo style writing competition, and I'd like to try and get in on it. Their goal is a little different, they want 55,555 words in 5 weeks. I like it!
Since it needs to be a new story, I'll be posting Impure there. Rest assured, you'll be getting all the chapters here, first.
In fact I've just chapters three and four tonight, and expect to have chapter 5 up by this weekend.

Argos had not expected this. Truthfully, he wasn’t sure what he expected. He didn’t know if the cat would be grateful or angry, frightened or embarrassed. Were Argos in the cheetah’s place, he would have embarrassed to learn of his own naivety, but then also furious with the person who’d tricked him. The coyote was prepared for screaming and rage, for confusion and gratitude, for embarrassed mutterings and admittances of foolish...
