Today's source file is the retro / Hanna-Barbera style Nord VPN ads I do sometimes! If you thumb through the different scenes of the file, you'll see it contains the original, the cowboy ad, and both boxing ads!
FUN FACT: the file has a 360p size because to make it look "old" I make the whole thing at a lower resolution and then blow it up in premiere later. Have fun poking through this one, kids!

Hey kids! Source file here for a little AI Mario cartoony I put up yesterday. Hope everyone's been enjoying the Mario Movie! I haven't seen it yet, the reviews seem kinda mixed and I'm not anticipating I'll love it, but hopefully I get something out of it at least. The animation looks super beautiful so I plan on being engrossed by that if nothing else!

For starters, it’s the first Brain Dump episode to be made entirely in Autodesk’s Arnold render engine. While Arnold’s renders are typically prettier and more believable, please be patient if the colors look a little off at first, as I’m still tweaking the lighting in some of the scenes.

This episode is gunna take a whiiiiiiiiile. Not only is it particularly ambitious and is long af and contains a lot of animation, but my older versions of maya expired on me and newer versions don't use mental ray. This means ALL the Brain Dump scenes need to be converted to the Arnold render engine.
Of course the good news is the Arnold renders seem to look a lot better? The kitchen scene was always rendered in Arnold, so now that the show will be Arnold exclusively it should be a litt...

I wanted a few of the outdoor shots to have a sort of parallax/dolly zoom effect so they wouldn't just be carbon copies of the images from Pontoffel Pock. This was tricky because I had to export each layer separately from Animate before I brought it into After Effects. The After Effects camera tool is also awkward af and it fought me every step of the way. But I think the final versions look pretty okay!

After designing a hair mesh I decided I liked, I noticed I had a problem; Because of the curl in the front, it really only looked good from one angle. If he turns and faces the other direction, the entire thing looks "backwards", if that makes sense.
See the tiny circle behind his head? The entire hair mesh is parented to it. The width of the circle can either be set to 1 or -1 on the x axis to make it 'mirror' itself. When he's looking to the left it's set to 1, when he's looking...

You may recall last summer me posting the model of this rig's body. My plan was to create a generic "male character" bod that I could repurpose into future characters if I needed. After the body was done and rigged, all I have to do is model new heads for it to create an infinite amount of characters! Along with making a new texture for the bod (to showcase his entirely accurate tattoos) as well.
