Always plan for the unexpected 😝 - Patreon Update 18.05.2024

Hey lovely peeps,

We have sailed down to Georgetown in the Exumas to extend our visa for the Bahamas.

3 months just went by waaay too quick. There are so many amazing places here, we could stay for years and still, we wouldn't have been able to see them all.

We hoped to stay for one more month and then planned to head down with hurricane season approaching.

But unfortunately, the visa extension regulations here are a little restricted and we can only extend for ...

On a secluded little Beach

When you live on a boat for a while, sticking to a conventional calendar becomes a little tricky.

Onboard, I meticulously keep an eye on the weather. But the wind and clouds don't usually follow a weekly pattern.

So in sight that I am rather late with last week's post, I am uploading a few more shots today. πŸ’™β›΅

Wishing you a superbly relaxing weekend!

Preparing for another Passage β›΅οΈπŸ©΅

Hey lovely peeps!

We are preparing for our next leg toward Georgetown and are soon to lift anchor in Norman's Cay.

-- Jupp, we are still outta cooking gas πŸ˜…πŸ˜… and those small bottles are vanishing fast!

In the past few days, we researched for the best passage to exit the Exumas Bank so we can set course to Georgetown.
Since this side of the islands is incredibly shallow, the tidal changes can be pretty drastic. At times it is almost like being anchored in a river...

We are a little late but it's worth it!

Hey lovely peeps,

We are a little behind schedule but great things come to those who wait.

This week we were a in a pickle because we could have either finished our latest episode or captured these amazing shots and explored this special place.

What an awesome find - we can't wait to share our adventure around this intriguing plane wreck with you.

Lots of love πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

Patreon Update 29.04.2024 - It's all getting better

Hey lovely peeps!

We do not want to alarm you but the reason we have been a little late with our video is that recently things have been rather tumultuous.

As I am writing this, Kiki's condition has been slowly improving.

He had been feeling unwell since we left Aruba and we suspected a bad case of Gastritis. For that reason, we had already spoken to several doctors here in The Bahamas and also with his family doctor.

We did everything for his condition to im...

Boat Life: Exploring Wild Bahamas | EP.103 | Sailing SV CUBA

This is our latest sailboat story! From all of our sailing videos in the Caribbean, this one, is probably the most exiting one, yet. I didn't grow up here, but Capt. Kik did. So today I am the underwater girl exploring a shipwreck that is over a century old. Awesome!!

We hope you guys enjoy our video.

Mucho love from us both πŸ§œβ€β™€οΈπŸ§œβ€β™€οΈπŸ©΅

Gettin' salty in The Bahamas

While I absolutely enjoy it, at the same time it eludes me just how sparsely many of the islands are populated.

Miles and miles, and not a soul in sight.

Just sky, sea, sand and salt!

Perfect places to get lost in thoughts of playing Robinson Crusoe all day.

Wishing you all a day-dreamy weekend 😊

I've been let down 😞

Hey lovely peeps!

For the past couple of months, I have been mostly uploading and checking my posts here via the Patreon app on my phone. My laptop had been acting up and let's be honest, it is so much easier to be spontaneous on the go.

Only today I noticed that some of the recent pictures I uploaded via my phone are of low quality, which really disappointed me. πŸ˜₯

I just reuploaded the latest picture and I'll try to reupload some of the pictures from March, as they sho...

Living freely

Even in the Bahamas, it is possible to find completely deserted places still.
Where you can completely immerse yourself in nature.

As for this place, it's a lagoon that stretches as far as the eye can see.
At low tide, most of the area becomes a shallow that barely reaches your ankles.

For as long as I can remember, I dreamt of experiencing a place like this.

And if it wasn't for the journey I set my mind to, I could very well stay here till the end of days.πŸ’™<...

The departure of bad weather

We noticed, when the storm leaves, it makes the most gorgeous Sunsets!

We hope you had a wonderful Easter Time!

Our arrival in Bimini was a little different than expected with the wind doing a complete 360 in less than 24 hours and we could not find protection from the west winds. 😬

So we rode out the bad weather in the Florida Strait. Unfortunately, a sudden and harsh gust ripped our genoa and me, Sarah, with a minor injury.

But fear not πŸ˜… we have already ...

Playing with shadow and light

You probably noticed my passion for nature and the outdoors.

I am the kind of person you would find gazing at the reflection on the water. Completely absorbed by the ever-changing play of the light.

The way a single cloud could paint different accents on the canvas before my eyes.
It is something that, for a moment, makes me feel completely centred.

My mind is put on pause.
It is these kinds of moments that I appreciate the most in this journey.

Patreon Update 23.02.2024

Hey lovely peeps!

Finally CUBA is back in the water. πŸ₯³πŸ₯³
But there is no rest for the wicket, with our VISA expiring and very few weather windows opening up we grabbed the opportunity to cast the lines.

We did a shakedown sail to the North (or as the locals say Noord) of the Island. With all checks done, we did a wild Provisioning dash:

300 cans of kitty crew meals and ofc some Dutch Antille's Must Haves (lotsa cheese) were quickly picked and rushed back into CUBA...
