Weekly Update 6.5.17

Whew…what a week. First page of BLACK LABEL was finished (two versions) and got the second about halfway finished. Then I had my car broken into and had a bunch of stuff stolen. This was followed by a super busy work weekend. Seriously, I got about 8 hours of sleep over the course of three days.

That being said…It was a very successful weekend and even though I was working hard the whole time, I also had a blast! I even had time to write down a...

BLACK LABEL Page 2 Progress...

...after all the crap that happened, I'm surprised I made it as far along as I did.  I rushed a bit, so there are a few fixes I need to make and one panel is still in the sketch phase, but all in all, it's coming together. :)

Will likely have this finished Monday or Tuesday night.  I've got a long weekend ahead of me, but my car is fixed, so that's something I don't have to worry about.

Break in...

...was supposed to be on the road all day today but somebody broke into my car last night and made off with about $4000 worth of work related equipment. Stuff I needed for work. So instead of working, I've spent the day on the phone with insurance people.

Car damage was minimal and no one was hurt thank god. Insurance will cover the car damage (lucked out with an appointment tomorrow afternoon). Not sure about the equipment though. Need to wait a few days to find out. So I may be op...

Hope to have page 2 up in a few days.  Going to be on the road a bit tomorrow, but will hopefully make some progress.  Weekend is going to be crazy busy.

Page 1 progress...

Hope to have page 1 done by tomorrow night.  Thought I'd have it done tonight, but I made a gross error.  Fortunately, I can still keep all the work I've done thus far, I just need to add a few details.  If it's not up tomorrow, I'll at least post some of the progress.  Sooo excited to be moving forward on this!

Weekly Update 5.29.17

Last week was strange.  Didn’t finish what I'd planned to, but I got a lot done!  Got some pages laid out, some scripting errors corrected, and redesigned Meg and Ellie (Nothing drastic, just some subtle changes).  I now feel at peace with no excuses not to hit the petal with everything I’ve got!  Ellie’s new hair took some getting used to (really, I’ve been practicing it a lot) but I’m finally warming up to it! Onto page one!

A good start...

...so far.  It's going to take some getting used to, but I'm liking the directing it's heading.  You can't really make out the style of Ellie's hair with this pose, but I think it'll work good.  I think this will do the trick.  I'll sleep on it and see how I feel.

I really like Meg with short hair.  I was a little worried at first, but I like it.

I have an idea for a comic where the girls get a haircut.  I think that'll make the transition easier for me.

...Everything Black Label related up till now is Chapter 0.  Bonus Material, if you will.  The only exception to that is THE NOVICE, and let's face it, by the time I get to that part of the story, I'm gonna wanna redraw most of it anyway.

So, before I finish up the first few pages of Chapter 1, let's start things right and make these characters a little less Sunstone-y.  This is honestly my last chance to do this, and after sleeping on it, I've decided it has to be done.  O...

...whew!  Was so worried this week was going to end up as a wash.  Launched the book on Monday and then immediately got called out of town.  Also, psyched myself out a little as the first couple pages are the most important, so I gotta make them extra good.

...I've mostly been laying out pages which as far as I'm concerned is an art form in itself, and one that I find very challenging. It's probably the part that takes me the longest. I get home tomorrow afternoon then I'm going to start drawing elements. I'll post them as I finish them.

Weekly Update 5.22.17

Okay, BLACK LABEL has officially launched! Busy days ahead! Wish I could throw a party, but there is no time! I have over 200 pages of finished script ready to be drawn. Gonna start with page one and move forward. I will of course, skip around a bit to finish off some of the simpler parts. Wanna get those out of the way. When I need a break, I’ll be hitting up AMAZON. Gotta get that done to.

Gonna post this on DevArt on Monday.  I'm on the road all weekend for work (big surprise), then I will hopefully finish the studio job and get to work on the first official comic for BLACK LABEL.  Very excited!!!

Part one is broken into 12 comics.  The first comic is called GIRLS IN A DUNGEON.  It's a four page comic and should be very interesting.  So interesting in fact that I will have to censor it for DevArt...but not here. :)

Tentacles 2 progress...

...thus far.  Needs some touch ups.  Think I'm done with Tentacles for a while.  Next exclusive will be AMAZON related.  Need to be working on that. ^^;

...took way longer than I care to admit.  Seriously, with the other work I have to do, I put way more time into this than I should have.  Ready to trace onto bristol board.  Should be done soon.

Weekly Update 5.15.17

I’m back, and I’ve got a busy week ahead. ^^;

So, remember the studio client that I had last year that kept making me update his book over and over again? Well, he’s back with more changes. Sigh. This will likely take up the majority of my time this week. Fortunately, it’s just line art, so no toning or color. I’m going to try and get that out of the way as soon as possible.

I'm on the road for work tomorrow and when I get back I'm taking my wife camping for the weekend.  So the next post will be early next week.  Hope to have this comic done and posted to DevArt by the end of next week.  It'll be nice to have material to post on DevArt again. :)

...for the next $5 exclusive image.  Wanna get the line art finished today.  Tomorrow I'm out of town all weekend for work.  Fortunately, I've got a fresh pad of bristol board for the trip.  I just need to remember to take my pencils this time. ^^;

Also going to celebrate my 3rd anniversary with my wife this weekend, so that's going to be a blast as well! :)
