Weekly Update 01.13.2020...

…Getting over a cold today. Started showing itself Friday night and hit me hard on Saturday. Sad part was, I had to work Saturday night and there was no one who could take my place, so…it’s nice to be needed? ^^;

Slept most of yesterday and then binged Rick and Morty season 3. Loving this show! Feeling much better today!

Sketched out a few fun character designs this weekend (mostly Val as a DnD dungeon master). Hopefully I’ll be able to share some of that later this week (...

Taking it easy...

...as I recover from my cold. Congested with some aches and pains, but no headache or sore throat. I call that a huge win. Likely won’t have a voice tomorrow, but I don’t have to deal with people for a few days anyway. Really lucked out!

Gonna watch some Rick and Morty and play with more character design sketches. Should be a nice, chill day. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

woke up with a cold today so I’m just relaxing and doodling out Black Label DnD designs. Still have to go to work tonight, but I’m feeling a lot better than this morning. 👍

Character designs...

...are really important! Most people do them first before they start the comic. Not me! I wait until I’m a good 100 pages in. Come at me!

Been meaning to work on these. There’s actually quite a bit to go through for each character, but it’ll be nice to have these at my fingertips for reference. Also trying to figure out everyone’s DnD character design. That’s been challenging...but fun!

I’m not feeling to work now, but hope to have more of these this coming week...

BL Chapter 4, Page 8...

...I'm not sure how I feel about this one.  I think it's hilarious, but I'm not sure how funny it will be for everyone else.  Things just keep escalating with everyone wanting Ellie's attention and then the man who started it all comes walking in.

Weekly Update 01.06.2020...

…First weekly update of the year and I’m posting it late. A well, better late than never! ^^;

The new year is off to a strong start! The next page of BLACK LABEL is more or less designed and I’ll hopefully be wrapping up the detailed sketch today. The next few pages have gone through a number of redesigns as I'm trying to lay out the panels without overcrowding the pages or killing the flow. This has always been the biggest challenge for me, but it doesn’t annoy me the way it us...

BL Chapter 4, Page 7...

...a pretty straight-forward page.  Nothing fancy, but that allowed me to knock it out pretty quick.  A good start to the new year!

Gonna start the next page tomorrow.  Will be a more complicated page with a few fun bits.

I think I'm going to split chapter 4 into two 24 page chapters.  Gonna be a lot of fun!  Sexy times in a few pages! :D

For a bit more variety...

...I turned Andre’s jacket into a hoodie sweater. Made for a good warm up. Now...onto page 7!

BLACK LABEL Chapter 4 Page 6...

...Wow, the universe really wanted this to be the last page I did this decade.  Moving, the holidays, business travel and illness, but here it is!  Not the most exciting page, but a few important story bits have been dropped and some important plot threads start here!  Also, meet Sam's boyfriend Andre.  Yes, you read that right.  His name is Andre. ;)

Weekly Update 12.30.2019...

…Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday season!

Yesterday was my first day off in the past week and I was looking forward to finishing the next page and then doing some random sketching while bingeing some Rick and Morty (my wife surprised me with the first three seasons for Christmas. I got her a DnD art book). Instead I got to spend the day in the emergency room. Turns out I had a stomach virus that was making it impossible to eat or drink anything. Also made me feel...

At long last!...

...the detailed sketches are done! Not my best page, but I’m still getting my edge back and there are multiple male characters which I don’t draw very often. I had to cut three panels, but hey, they fit nicely on the next page. All in all, I’m happy with it this far.

The first two panels are already lined with the base tones set, so the I only have three panels to go!

Warmup sketch...

...I’ve been doodling the past few days. It needs a lot of work and retooling, but it’ll make for a fun image. I wanted to practice drawing a guy and couldn’t help including some girl/girl action. 😅

Note: that’s Sam on the bottom. The other two are some old college friends. So...yeah, this is canon and will come up eventually. 😁

Back at it!...

...I really need to practice drawing guys. May need to do a straight couple print before the new year. Don’t think I’ve ever done one, so that will be an interesting challenge. 😅

...this is a digital copy of my first book Techgal! The artwork/story are awful, but I learned a lot while making it. 200 pages of experimentation and a lot of jokes that I’m pretty proud of. I hope you enjoy it!

Weekly Update 12.24.2019...

…Sorry for being a day late. All my days are mixed up. Feels like Thursday. ^^;

Good news! My ability to draw has returned to me (I knew it would take a few days, but man it was nerve wracking)! The detailed sketches for the next page are about 30% done! I’m thinking this means a new page late this weekend! :D Super excited to see this chapter unfold! I may need to split it into two chapters because it is a big one (50+ pages)!

So...

...I skipped ahead to page 12 as it’s a simpler page with some panels. This was clearly a good call as I’ve finally drawn something I can work with. Been a frustrating couple of days but I’m excited to be productive again! I’m gonna get back to the next page tomorrow but I thought I’d share the page 12 progress. I like the impending kiss, but I think I can make it steamier. Maybe even spicier! 👍

...after so much time without my Wacom, I’ve lost my ability to draw. ^^; I was expecting this, so I’m not worried, just frustrated. Next page should be done late next week. Featuring a few familiar faces, and a new one as well.
