WIPwed: Dog Park 5 update

Now that we're on the other side of Archon, I've been chipping away at the illustrations for Dark Park #5. I hoped to have it done by Christmas, but I picked up some new clients so it's not looking like it's possible. Still, here is the first page fully illustrated to whet everyone's whistle... and a preview of my new characters Grandma Angel and Grandpa Gabe from a portrait I made of them some years ago.

WIPwed: Hornblower sketches

So after a year and a half of working on this fanfic I never landed on a clear visual representation of my main villain. This little Horatio study did what I needed it to, made me kinda love the guy. I want to draw some official character portraits of my fanfic OCs to stick at the end of the story along with the "covers" I want to design as an eyecatch, so I'm thinking the hero pose in this selection might be Horatio's portrait when I do that.

Wipwed: st louis trip finale

So it's almost the end of Wednesday and I just got back from a trip so I haven't had time to work on anything today. Instead I thought it would be fun to share a little recap of my trip to St Louis for archon which is an annual event for me. I had a great time did some business got some writing done and Drew this little Joshi on the seat at the Shack in Valley Park so if you find your way to the Shack and find him give him a little tap for me on the nose:-) back to projects tomorrow!

WIPwed: Gift Art

I'm on a trip this week in St. Louis for Archon, so I've been really busy running around catching up with friends and doing business things. The only art I'm able to post this week is this gift art I made for my friend, cousin, and published author Catherine Bakewell. Keep an eye on her, she's got a new book coming out soon!

Better late than thursday!! Ive been working really hard in prep for Archon this weekend so i havent had a bunch of time, but i DID make time to watch knights of Guinevere! Which was amazing. Recommended for sure!

WIPwed: Plinkin' away at things

The flea market is over and although I have a cramp in my hand from all the buttons and stickers, I still have more buttons and stickers to make. So for this week, I'm showing off a couple half-started fanart projects that I open to pick at while I'm waiting for the printer to start, or my arm's starting to hurt, or I just need something creative to hold my attention for five minutes at a time. Here is a Psychonauts fanart and a Back to the Future Fanart. I'm sure I'll finish them eventually....

Wipwed: button self portrait

So this week I had a bit of a table stock disaster. 85% of my buttons and stickers were destroyed by moisture. So I haven't had a lot of time to work on anything creative because I have been making buttons and stickers in Earnest for the last week and a half in preparation for the flea market on Friday. I'm not going to make any excuses though instead I'm going to make the self portrait of me drowning in a sea of Pinback buttons. Enjoy!

WIPwed: Deltarune Lighteners

So I'm finally experiencing Deltarune after meaning to play it for a decade. I gave up the hope I'd ever find time to play the chapters myself and have been watching a Lets Play of it. Shoutout to Snapcube2 on youtube, Penny's voices are canon as far as I'm concerned, they're just perfect. She's gotten me through so much dog store prep (I had a minor tragedy this week when I discovered that a large chunk of my button and keychain stock had been damaged by moisture and will need to be remade) ...

WIPwed (on a thursday oops) Stringcaster update

So its Thursday already wow! I've had a headcold all week and time is just a whirr... I still got work done though! Stringcaster is fully illustrated. All I have to do is finish the cover. I'm going for a magenta look on this one. something fun. And since she's wearing yellow, yellow and hot pink are kind of Cat's thing. Hopefully I'll have a proof copy to show you all next week. I'll definitely have copies in time for Archon.

WIPwed: Stringcaster update

Illustrations are continuing for Stringcaster, the Threadcaster Beginner Reader. Hope is alive that I may get it out in time for Archon, but as always, I'm taking it up to the wire. It doesn't help that I've been busy the last couple of days, but I'm half done and the goal is to have all the illustrations completed by the end of the month.

Okay now I'm making dogs. i'm realizing that I haven't drawn for fun a lot recently. It's all for either the dog store or for a book. Today we have dogs though! And two of these are a little different because they're remakes. I did a longer version of the Yorkie because people don't always puppy cut their yorkies and I have always disliked my Italian Greyhound so I've redone it. I included the old Iggy for comparison. So I'm running late on my July fanart because I haven't even finished my June fanart. I've had two clients one right after another, so that's taken a bunch of my time. Here are the three potential layouts for my Benjamin Sisko image. I wanted to have it be between he and Jake, but technically Jake didn't win the poll, Ben did. Let me know if there's a concept you all would prefer to see.

WIPwed MORE Cats omg

So I didn't intend for so many of these work in progress updates to be cat picture previews, but I've been working on client deadlines for the past couple of months so I haven't had a lot of time to doodle. Funny story about these cats... the featured one is called a Bambino. When I drew it, I thought I was drawing a Miniskin. Miniskins are a short legged hairless with genes from Sphynx cats and Munckin cats... except the Miniskin (while still that cross) HAS HAIR. The Bambino is the same cro...

I have a lot of projects going right now, but one of my goals this summer is to "finish" my cat catalog for the dog store. The International Cat Association (TICA) has a list of official breeds it recognizes for cat shows so I've been working on drawing all the featured breeds to bank them for monthly uploads going forward. Wipwed : Psychonauts fanfic The End!!

I am pleased to announce that this week i finally wrote "the end" on the draft of my Psychonauts fanfic! The final word count is approximately 405k. It is the single biggest project I have ever completed... for better or worse since it is fanfic. I plan to repurpose the outline someday for a spy novel series. Maybe middle grade? Bring down the stakes a bunch and take out all the Psychic stuff and just make it a bomber... maybe with like sleep powder or something that leaves people in a coma. ...

So this is a late post because I was really hoping id be able to celebrate hitting "the end" on the main draft of my now epically long fanfic. Unfortunately like the rest of the fic, the last chapter is taking longer than I thought it would. Hopefully next week I can share a "the end" but for now please take these scene sketches from different parts in the story.

So I'm excited to get started on my fifth Dog Park book. Following the theme of Cowboy's Cousins and Poncho Faces His Fears, Dog Park 5: Grandparents Visit (temp title) is about Cal and Cowboy meeting new friends. In this case, Cowboy's grandparents, Grandma Angel and Grandpa Gabe who are aged and therefore can't play as hard or as long as their other friends can. It's goal is to teach sensitivity to friends with different needs and compromise without conflict. Expect to see some more progres...
