Every U.S. President's Favorite U.S. President

Sure, the favorite president of most presidents was either Abraham Lincoln or George Washington, but there are some legit surprises in here. One crazy thing I thought about after making this video is that there are probably not many presidents in my life time will be the favorite president of future presidents, with the exceptions being probably Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama. It's obviously too early to predict, but this era of presidents is similar to the era of presidents that preceded Lin...

Supreme Court Briefs returns!

Honestly, I'm surprised as heck that more people don't know about or bring up this case. That's also a big reason why I included it in my Supreme Court book. Speaking of that book, don't forget that I am hosting an event at the Raven Bookstore in Lawrence, Kansas on this coming Thursday at 7pm. The 5 Closest Presidential Elections in U.S. History

I count down the five closest presidential elections in American history. This is only my opinion, ok? If you disagree with my opinion, well...then you're nuts, man. Just kidding, your opinion is probably more correct than mine.

Thank you for your continued support.

Oh, and don't forget. Live in-person event in Lawrence next Thursday, June 13th!

A Brief History of Immigration to the United States

Heck, I even look at immigration to the United States BEFORE the United States existed, which is a big reason why this video isn't so BRIEF after all. Regardless, I cover a lot of stuff in 28 minutes. Much of it is adapted from my old lesson plans.

Next week I'll be releasing another The Beat Goes On video. Have a great Memorial Day weekend, and thank you for your continued support!

The Vietnam War, Explained

I've been getting carried away with my videos lately. Because of this, the next few will be much shorter. But yeah, here's another video I've been wanting to make since when I first began my channel. It's basically how I used to teach the Vietnam War to my high school students.

Yes, I used to show them some of the photographs you'll see in this video. Yes, some of them are graphic. Viewer discretion is advised. This video will likely get age-restricted, so I am currently uploading anot...

Harry Truman, The Most Average Person to Ever Become President

This video...uh...yeah it took a lot out of me.

But it might just be my best video yet, in my opinion. I'm extremely proud of how it turned out. It's crazy that it took me so long to finally produce it, considering how intimately I know about Harry Truman and considering I've been to the Harry Truman Presidential Library & Museum at least eight times.

A special shout out to all the folks who helped me make this video. Particularly, Dean Davison and Shannon Beat, my lovely part...

The Second Richest Man in U.S. History Gave All His Money Away

We filmed two videos in the Pittsburgh area. The first was the Mason-Dixon line video. This was the second. That said, I also filmed stuff in Lawrence, as there is a Carnegie Library just a couple miles from where I live. I think Carnegie's story is more relevant than ever. A shout out to all the billionaires who are donating all their wealth.

Your donations made the trip to Pittsburgh possible. When I don't get sponsorships, I do freak out a little bit as ad revenue for YouTube is wil...

What is the Mason-Dixon line?

It's a thing most Americans know about, but most Americans likely haven't thought much about. Well, I think about the Mason-Dixon line all the time. I think about it when I'm doing laundry, for crying out loud.

Anyway, Mrs. Beat and I got to travel to make this video, and your support on Patreon helped pay for the trip! I'm trying to film more on location this year because I feel it adds a lot to the video. Plus....uh...it's admittedly fun to visit historical locations.

The Iraq War Explained

I apologize that this video didn't come out to you sooner. I wanted it out to my patrons last Thursday, but I've had issues publishing it as YouTube kept age-restricting it. I finally censored it enough to get the age-restriction removed, but if you want to watch the less censored version I've put it in the description of the video.

I lived through the Iraq War, as most of us did. I had family and friends who fought in the Iraq War. I am obviously quite biased about it. Please keep that...

3 Times the World Almost Ended

Y'all know me. My favorite period of history to learn about is the Cold War. The brinkmanship alone that occurred during that period is almost unbelievable. I originally was going to just make a video about the Cuban Missile Crisis, but instead thought that framing a video this way would be better to reach a broader audience.

Enjoy learning about the END OF THE WORLD.

Every President's Favorite Books, Films and Shows

Happy early Presidents Day!

As has become tradition, I am releasing a presidents video to celebrate. I am also livestreaming on Presidents Day to look at how presidents would take the World's Smallest Political Quiz.

Your continued support on here, combined with sponsorships and sporadic ad revenue, makes it so that I can now do this job full-time. It also makes it so that I can film more on location. This past week, I was fortunate enough to film at the Truman Library...

What's the president's job, anyway?

A lot of folks these days don't seem to understand exactly what the President of the United States can and cannot do. That's why I made this video, as a matter of fact!

I probably should have made it ages ago. I literally dusted off my old textbooks and lesson plans from when I taught in the classroom to write the script.

Speaking of which, one day I may have to go back to the classroom if I don't make enough money from doing this full-time, so I wanted to again thank you fo...

How the Supreme Court Made It Easier to Get a Gun | McDonald v. Chicago

In episode 77 of Supreme Court Briefs, an old dude wants to buy a handgun to defend his home after it is robbed, but Chicago won't let him. So he sues their butts.

Just a heads up...I plan on releasing more Supreme Court Briefs videos than Compared videos in 2024, mostly since I'm just not as into making the Compared videos as much anymore.

In other news, I am headed the Truman Library and home in Independence, Missouri next week to film and interview T...

Protecting Extreme Speech | Snyder v. Phelps

It's a new episode of Supreme Court Briefs!

I am very familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church. I've seen them protesting in person far too many times. For this video I filmed some stuff in front of their church mostly to shed light on the Equality House and Mott House across the street, which I think are two of the coolest places ever established.

I hope you all are enjoying your holidays. Thank you for your continued support!

England and Scotland Compared

In a new episode of Compared, I look at the two most-famous and most-visited countries in the United Kingdom- England and Scotland. Every Woman Who Ran for President in American History

It's not as many as you might think!

Oh, and obviously this is not literally every woman who ran for president, as in recent years at least dozens of women have ran that haven't got more than a few votes. Still, even after considering that fact, not many have run, despite 2020 being a record year for women running.

When do you think the United States will finally have its first female president?

The JFK Assassination Was Crazy

November 22nd marks the 60th anniversary of the assassination of the 35th president, John F. Kennedy. The JFK Assassination was one of the events that first got me into history, and I've read countless books about it ever since. As a younger man, I was deep into the conspiracy stuff, but as I've gotten older, I've come to realize that there doesn't need to be a conspiracy to realize that this event was freaking crazy (which explains the title of the video). Truly, I don't think most of consid...

Did the United States Give Away Half of Oklahoma? | McGirt v. Oklahoma

Well, kind of. In episode 76 of Supreme Court Briefs, a pedophile and a murderer unwittingly cause Native Americans to gain more rights.

So I was going to make a video comparing Venezuela and Columbia, but I couldn't find good enough footage of the two countries, so that video is currently on the backburner. In the mean time, I had a BUNCH of great Kenya and Tanzania footage, so that's why this video got bumped up. This w...
