Pup Mask WIP 5

Trying it on and consulting with my friend, he confirmed that the muzzle is too large and makes me look like the jowls of a bloodhound. I'll need to rework it a bit.

I made a duct tape version of the mask to better simulate what it would look like when made in leather, also has a lot more endurance in making patterns than paper. I do need to figure out a way to get rid of the peaking crease on the forehead.

Taking bit of break from skin portions to work on the bull part to better balance the painting. I'm liking the hard contrast of the blue and red.

Still playing around with the skin tones, been looking up references from "Crimson Peak" as the movie has some beautiful work in contrasting colours.

Made a new clean template for my hood, I think I have the basic design figured out, now just have to test it with some heavier material.

Made a new paper template and continuing tweaking the design with pencil and tape to make up the next trial and error. It takes time but I constantly feel like I'm making progress.

Toning down the skin portions a loooot more. I always find it the hardest part of a painting to figure out the colour tones, especially with skin, which always varying tones throughout the body. Add coloured lighting on top of the and ugh!

So using the template for my old mask I constructed a new one out of paper. Super glad my old costumes prof lent me her mannequin head she uses for shaping hats so i have something to set it on. You can also see where I've been using tape and pencil to shape it for the next pattern attempt.

Putting on some basic flesh tones for the human portions of the painting, though it's too red for the lighting I'm going for.

So like most furries that start off with a common canid, I've been wanted to change my personal fursona for a while and I've always liked hyenas, the runts of the animal kingdom :P It takes me forever to come up with a character for myself since I'm so picky, but then I saw an image of a joey kangaroo covered in bandages that became an angle that I liked for my character. There's probably still some tweaking that I'll want to do, but the new year seemed like a good start for a new character :...

Early Ty Sketches and Concepts

I started playing around with some concepts of Ty to make sure he would really stand out within the OoP world. There were certain aspects that I knew I wanted right away, like broader cheek fluff and expressive eyebrows, but you can see where I tweaked a experimented with other traits, like personality, muzzle shape and tooniness.

Ty Game Character Sketch: Arch

Some sketches for the character, Arch, from one of the instalments of Out of Position and will be in the spin off, Ty Game.

This guy's design came to me pretty easy as he's pretty much a culmination of traits from all my friends, therefore he's pretty damn lovable.

I'm not going to say much about her, aside that I love her character and I got to incorporate some of the aspects of one of my favourite character designs, Cruella de Vil.
