Rise of the Battlemage Poll

The group now consists of 4 people, Deacon, Tatnia, Miru and Nal. A fifth person will be introduced shortly, and you get to decide their species. I've included links to the wookipedia page, but keep in mind that while this Star Wars universe is a conglomerate of Legends and Canon, I lean heavier to Legends. Also keep in mind that these are individual people, so just because one species might be known for something doesn't mean that this individual is like that.

Mettle, Metal, Meddled - Chapter 59 - Dealer down

It took us about five minutes to get in position, trying to balance being as quiet and stealthy as possible while also moving quickly. We needed to finish this before whoever Mauser was waiting for arrived, assuming that's what he was doing. Thankfully, we were all connected by M’gann, meaning silent communication was simple and easy.

“I’m in position,” I said simply, waiting silently for my teammates.

A series of confirmations came in, the entire team ready and w...

Star Wars: Rise of the Battlemage - Chapter 9

I woke up the following day sprawled out on one of the collapsible beds Nal had bought for us the day before. At some point, we had landed next to an abandoned, run-down building in one of the more deserted and empty parts of the city sector we had traveled to. Tatnia and Nal had set up the beds, including the two pull-down bunks that came installed in the A-A5 cargo space, and I had put Miru, still asleep, onto one of them. Not long after that, the rest of us also headed to sleep, tired from...

Star Wars: Rise of the Battlemage - Chapter 8

About two hours into watching Miru work on the speeder, Tatnia was no longer complaining about her joining the team, beyond just not knowing her. It was abundantly clear that the young Twi’lek was an extremely skilled mechanic. She all but flew around the yard, pulling pieces out of other speeders, cleaning up parts, and modifying a few of them before installing them into the A-A5. She also pulled a few pieces out of the A-A5 and worked them over, even trading a few of them out.

Next MMM interlude!

Hello everyone. Wanted to apologize for it being so long since my last poll, but between my book and the start of Battlemage, I have been very focused and busy. I'm hoping that the next board member poll will be about Battlemage, so stay tuned. For now, time to pick another interlude!

Mettle, Metal, Meddled - Chapter 58 - Mauser

Detective Reza led us to her personal office, which was in a small room off of an open floor. M’gann and I both sat down in front of her desk as she took her seat, booting up her computer.

“The name Daryl gave you, Mauser, is relatively well known around here as a small-time but unfortunately competent arms dealer,” She explained as she started typing, looking at us around her computer. “We’ve been trying to catch him out for a while, but he is careful. I don’t know much abo...

Star Wars: Rise of the Battlemage - Chapter 7

We waited another minute, my mana filling entirely by the time the gate finally started to shift and rumble, slowly sliding open. On the other side was the speeder, which slowly pulled out of the hanger bay and into the open space. On the other side of the gate, I could see a few people walking around, with a single person, the Gran, by the gate, ready to close it after the speeder was through.

My tiger summon ran forward with a mental command through the connected spell, crossing the ...

Star Wars: Rise of the Battlemage - Chapter 6

I was alone, leaning against a randomly chosen corner, for only a few minutes before Nal joined me, with Tatnia right behind him just a minute later. The sun was just starting to go down, meaning we had about two hours before it started getting unhealthy to be out in the streets. Part of me was tempted to troll the area for more muggers when it got darker out, but the phantom pain of being stabbed in the side shut that idea down.

Waiting for the criminals to come to us was probably a ba...

Mettle, Metal, Meddled - Chapter 57 - First case

The police took over the scene immediately after they arrived, cordoning off the area and beginning to collect the shooters. I helped remove the stone restraints I had put a few of them in, allowing them to be treated for their injuries and carted off. The police were clearly used to working with heroes, and after we gave them our statements, Artemis and I headed off, leaving our New Titans contact information with them.

As we continued our patrol, the fight stuck with me. The entire si...

Star Wars: Rise of the Battlemage - Chapter 5

I wanted to try out linking images and wiki pages to relevant stuff when it comes up.  Some chapters will have a lot, some will have none. Let me know what you think!

Clairvoyance was a spell I had, at first, assumed was purely a video game construct. It was just a way to introduce GPS into a video game that was easy to get lost in. It turns out I was half correct. Clairvoyance was, in fact, one of the novice spells I could learn from my grimoire. What it wasn't, ...

Star Wars: Rise of the Battlemage - Chapter 4

Both of my new compatriots claimed the small but serviceable beds, and since I planned on staying up for a while longer, I didn't complain. I could tell Tatnia was more than a bit concerned about sleeping in the same room as two strangers. I couldn't exactly blame her, considering I was nervous about it as well. I wasn't stupid, I didn't trust either of my compatriots very much at this point, but I was willing to give them both a chance. Maybe it was because my "give a fuck” meter seemed to...

Mettle, Metal, Meddled - Chapter 56 - Second night

After handing off the young girls, I was swamped by people cheering and thanking me. Someone claiming to be the neighbor of the children explained that their mother was working and that she was already on her way. After nodding, I pulled off my filter mask and did my best to step away, explaining that I was still on the clock until the fire was under control.

When the crowd stepped back, I immediately headed to where Kaldur and the rest of the team were. Kaldur was talking to what appea...

Considering I had just shot lightning from my hands, I wasn't entirely surprised when not everyone jumped to get their binders removed. In the end, I ended up freeing the Wookie, whose binders were actually larger and more heavy-duty than my own, as well as the male and one of the female humans, the Duros and one of the female Twi'lek.

“What's next?” The Duros asked, looking around the interior. “We jump out when they open the hatch?”

“No, cannot wait. sale place be stro...

Star Wars: Rise of the Battlemage - Chapter 2

I made it past the first hurdle in the first few minutes, willing my grimoire into my hands after a bit of trial and error. It was a strange sensation, like I was getting lighter, but not in a way that affected my actual weight. I opened the book, or as quickly as possible with my wrists connected with the binders, a word for the manacles that came to my mind fluidly but that I didn't actually remember knowing.

My own memory of Star Wars was spotty, at best, and a lot of the more minor ...

Mettle, Metal, Meddled - Chapter 55 - On patrol

Artemis was a frequent guest over the next few days, all the way up until she officially joined the team. We didn't quite have an official joining ceremony yet, but we celebrated by taking her out for burritos and riding Bioship into space. The young archer sat in her chair for a full ten minutes without saying anything, the longest reaction so far. Even after recovering, she continued to take peaks at the view throughout the night. Not that everyone else wasn't doing the same thing, of cours...

Star Wars: Rise of the Battlemage - Chapter 1

Life was more than a bit stressful.

It's difficult to say when it started being overwhelming. When work turned into being overworked, hanging out with friends became a social obligation. The cost of living got higher and higher, and it never felt like anything ever went anywhere.

It wasn't all bad. But it was hard to enjoy the good when the bad weighed so much. Covid turned the word on its head and nearly put my brother on the ground. Every day is a new problem, a new reason to be...

The Conceptual Deck - Chapter 122 - And time passes.

The WSC put together crews for the Earth Defence Fleet surprisingly quickly. It was a rather daunting task that I had assumed would take several months to complete, but about a week after the construction of the first battle group was finished, they had crews for each of the ships ready. The crew was much smaller than any water-bound ship would be because much of the ship's functions would be automated, but there were still quite a few roles to fill.

The process of activating the battle...

Mettle, Metal, Meddled - Chapter 54 - Meet and greet

The next four days were spent focusing on training, both bending and team training, with our instructors. I made solid progress in my overall dexterity in metal bending, becoming much more familiar and connected with metal in general. I was at the point where I could easily shape meteorite metal, the metal flowing in a very different way from bending stone. I had already replaced my shield and the metal plates that were connected to my uniform with meteorite metal, meaning I could move and re...

New protagonists name!

I've come up with a series of names and generated some AI art of each of them (See attached files). This is what each of them will look like, so choose wisely! (save any inhuman features or AI glitches)

I definitely didn't mess up posting this and make this for the lowest tier patrons only. Definitely not.

The Conceptual Deck - Chapter 121 - Recovery

Ema watched me leave, the apartment door closing behind me, cutting me off from her harsh look. I didn’t want to upset her, but I knew I wouldn’t have been able to rest anyway. I made my way to the workshop area, pushing out my storage shed and my cabinet of tricks. I needed to get to work, there was so much to do before… I needed to be better. To be stronger and ready for anything. I took a deep breath and shook myself free of my spiraling thoughts.

I had a lot of work to do befo...

The Conceptual Deck - Chapter 120 - Fighting instincts

The newcomers did not hesitate for a moment once Dreykov finished shouting his orders. The one with the skull motif on their helmet, Taskmaster, started running around the room, attempting to circumnavigate me and leave the fighting to their compatriots. The large man and the younger man with visibly augmented legs both charged me at once. Even before they reached me though, the woman reached her hands out, shooting out red and purple energy that wrapped around my arms, holding me steady.

Where are we going?

So, with a new story coming, its time to pick a universe! This is a big deal, obviously, because I have already chosen the MC's power set and it does not include inter-reality travel. Now I want to make this clear, this is not set in stone and I am reserving the final choice completely for myself. But I really want you suggestions because who knows what cool place I've forgotten about. if your suggestion has already come up, comment on it or even just repeat it, ide like to gauge popular...

Hello! Hope everyone had a good January! This is the next five chapters of Last Resort: Dimensional Blood Sport. It also contains the cover art I had commissioned, which I think turned out pretty good! I am also happy to announce that the first draft of the book is complete! With any luck I will be releasing it at the end of February or the beginning of March. Investors and Board Members will of course receive it for free!

Mettle, Metal, Meddled - Chapter 53 - Killer - Artemis Interlude

Artemis’ father had always said that it's important to find a weapon that resonated with you. His lessons about finding a tool that spoke to you, that fit with your body and your mind, were the closest he ever got to being philosophical. It was one of his core lessons, one Artemis started learning when she was ten years old.

He would lament that he never found his, constantly blaming his time in the marines for grinding it out of him. He knew the M27 Infantry Rifle better than he knew...

The Future of the Conceptual Deck

Hello! I hope everyone has had a good start to 2023!

So this post is one that I've been thinking about for a while. The Conceptual Deck is my first fanfiction, and has been an incredible learning experience. Some lessons I've learned as I write, others I've learned after I released the chapters. Either way, the story has evolved and changed dramatically since I first started.

I've very much enjoyed the whole process of creating the Conceptual Deck, but I'm beginni...

The Conceptual Deck - Chapter 119 - Removal

“How?” I asked, looking between him and Natasha, who stare back with a look that was somehow intense and empty at the same time.

“Please, you think it was hard to remove her protection from mind control?” He asked, walking around Natasha, getting uncomfortably close to her. “A few threats to the right people, one you’ve actually already met and was already under my control, and well… for someone often said to be the best spy of our age, she is easy to manipulate. The Conceptual Deck - Chapter 118 - Prison break

Despite the fact that we were all ready to go, the plan was to wait for night to fall to try our luck, hoping that the darkness would give us a better chance at getting in without anyone noticing. It also meant that in a pinch we could disable the power to get complete cover inside and outside the facilities, as the darkness wouldn't mean anything with the glasses I handed out.

Since we finished around noon, that meant we would have a couple of hours to kill. Yelena immediately went out...
