Lore Watch Episode 83: Rexxar’s behavior, Kaja’mite’s origins, and other unsettling mysteries

This week our Lore Watchers Anne, Matt, and Joe dive right into the mailbag to answer your questions – which of course leads to a lot of theories and rampant speculations. What’s up with Rexxar in Battle for Azeroth? Are Kaja’mite and Azerite related somehow? What’s going on with that whole Alliance/Horde conflict?

For Patrons, we're happy to give you access to the episode before everyone else - enjoy it 2018-09-09 23:01:17 +0000 UTC View Post

Watching Blizzard: I need healing!

And that's a problem, because I'm (theoretically) a healer. That's a roundabout way of saying I've been stumbling through Uldir this week, with varying levels of success. This is the first really challenging content I've done in BfA and I feel rusty, so hopefully I can continue to "git gud" as Mitch would put it. (If I asked him, which I haven't.)

But let's all take a break from gaming to talk about... gaming! Yeah! Here's what's been happening.

Since we were talking abo...

Watching Blizzard: I hate puns, but I can't seem to escape them

Unfortunately, everyone else seems to love puns, so here I am, surrounded by bee jokes. What did I do to deserve this? (Start working with writers, probably.) I have regrets. So many regrets.

But beyond puns, it's been a relatively quiet day, which means there's really no avoiding talking puns. Let's check out the news. (And, unfortunately, the puns.)

To bee or...

Watching Blizzard: New content day!

It's a drought or it's a downpour, and today was certainly a downpour. World of Warcraft has Uldir, Warfronts, and the expansion's first World Boss. Heroes of the Storm has Mephisto. And... okay, well, that's actually it. But it certainly feels like it's been a busy day. So let's stop dawdling and talk about the day's happenings.

Uldir is here!

Watching Blizzard: We're just waiting for something to happen

I admit, I get a little stir crazy when the news is too quiet. What is Blizzard doing in this silence? What are they hiding? What are they waiting to unleash upon an unsuspecting world?

Okay, fine, maybe they aren’t plotting to unleash some ancient evil on the world. Maybe. But it’s more interesting to sit around speculating that they are. (It’s either that or do more world quests.) But while we wait to see what new plot Blizzard is waiting to unleash, let’s review th...

Watching Blizzard: Maybe we should all take the day off

It continues to be a fairly lazy week in he Blizzardverse. After all, not every day can be mad dash of news. (Probably.) A quiet week totally isn’t a sign things will go crazy tomorrow, when we least suspect them? But even asking that means we suspect craziness, so obviously it will still be quiet.

Maybe it’s better not to try to predict.

Maybe it’s better to go with the flow and take each day as it comes.

So why don’t we start by checking the day’s happenings, slim as th...

Watching Blizzard: It’s quiet. Too quiet…

Another relatively quiet day has come and gone. In fact, the day's biggest news was about some of World of Warcraft's earliest history. (I'll let you guess which.)

Let's get to the day's happenings.

Is the auction house finally getting some fixes?

  • The auction house is a mess, and it became more of a mess with the launch of Battle for Azeroth which made it laggy to the point of uselessness for a few days. 2018-08-29 07:22:05 +0000 UTC View Post

Watching Blizzard: Were you ready for Monday?

I was not ready for Monday, which is how Monday is already over. Woosh. Like a wave pushing us down into the deep seas. You know, where the dance parties are. Everyone who's anyone is there.

But enough about that. Let's see what's up in the news. (Spoiler alert: Not much.)

Did I mention not much? Because not much.

Lore Watch Episode 82: Is Battle for Azeroth about the faction war, or death itself?

This week our Lore Watchers Anne, Matt, and Joe sit down to talk all about WoW’s latest expansion, Battle for Azeroth. Along the way some emails are answered, and discussion turns to the expansion’s theme. Sure, they say it’s all about the faction war, but it looks like the focus is on something else entirely. In addition, how about that Warbringers: Azshara short? It’s a slightly longer than usual episode, and fair warning – there are spoilers within.

For Patrons, we're happy to giv...

Watching Blizzard: It's only just beginning

We’ve escaped Monday, but we haven’t escaped Monday’s news because it’s right here, still following us around. And here we are trying to run away from the ghost of Monday when all it wants is a little attention. News needs to be read, people. That’s why we’re all here, right? United briefly by our interest in today’s gaming headlines, we read.

Or watch. Or listen. Whatever strikes your fancy, really.

So let’s get to it.

Watching Blizzard: What day is it again?

I confess, I’ve already lost track of how many days Battle for Azeroth has been out. The week feels both like it has stretched on forever and also like it has been too short to get anything done (I’m only level 114). Time is weird, y’all.

But instead of talking about the vagaries of time, let’s talk about video games.

We may be getting that Azshara short soon

By which I mean news about all of the adorable stuff in Azeroth. Because that's what you want to know, right? I hope so, because that's what we've got. (Okay, there are a few other things, but the adorable stuff is the most interesting part.) So what are we waiting for? There are animals to pet!

Watching Blizzard: Day one

We’re one day into Battle for Azeroth, the servers are stable, and there’s a lot of leveling to do. And if you’ve skipped sleep to level instead, there are always alts. And dungeons. And Mythics. And achievements. And… well, you get the idea. There’s lots to do.

There’s so much to do that I can’t imagine who has time to stop and read, except as a way to kill time when stuck somewhere you can’t play WoW. If you’re one of the poor individuals who cannot play <...

Watching Blizzard: Launchday bestday

The Battle for Azeroth rollout went incredibly smoothly, and as I type this, most of us are off zooming through the levels. (And after I finish this, I'll join them. Or I'll go find some cookies and then I'll join them. Same thing.)

If you've been too distracted by launch day excitement to keep up with the news, here's everything that happened.

Lore Watch Episode 81: Cinematics, novellas, and a Battle for Lordaeron

This week our Lore Watchers Anne, Matt, and Joe explore the mountain of lore we’ve played through over the last couple of weeks in the lead-in to Battle for Azeroth. The War of Thorns, A Good War, Elegy, Warbringers: Sylvanas, and the Battle for Lordaeron are all discussed in detail in an episode that runs just a little bit longer than usual!

Watching Blizzard: Gnome life in a single photo

Yeah. The world is like this all the time.

But I guess I can’t dwell on that. Instead, I’ll dwell on how we’re one day closer to Battle for Azeroth. Soon, we will have arrived in a new expansion. So rush rush rush to get all of your last minute tasks done… because we’re coming down to the last second now.

But while we wait for the expansion to arrive, let’s take a look at everything that’s happened since we last had a chance to reminisce. Which is a l...

We need to talk about stress in the Overwatch League

By Tyler Colp

On Tuesday, The Dallas Fuel’s Brandon “Seagull” Larned retired from professional Overwatch to take up full-time streaming on Twitch. Seagull explained a lot of reasons for why he decided to stop playing, but made note of the impact it had on his mental health.

Watching Blizzard: Everything is happening

Monday has come and gone like the tide, and as I write this, we’re already zooming towards maintenance time — and another week of story bombs. If history holds, in a few hours we can expect to be infuriated by another tragic story, but your mileage may vary.

But enough about what’s happening in the future. Let’s talk about the news.

So there’s been a little controversy around Sylvanas…

Watching Blizzard: It's the end of the week! Somehow!

How did we get here? Where did the week go? And where did the weekend come from? Whatever the answers to those questions... let's take a look back at the last week, which seems to have zoomed by.
