CME podcast #437: Put some respect on Dustin Poirier's name

Dustin Poirier walked out to James Brown’s “The Big Payback,” stopped  Conor McGregor in the second round and then declared himself the  uncrowned champion. A pretty nifty piece of business from The Diamond  all the way around at UFC 257. Now, we ask what should be next for  Poirier, McGregor and, oh yeah, Michael Chandler in a suddenly  Khabib-free lightweight division.

P.S. Chad had a power outage mid-episode that impacted our video efforts this week, bu...

CME Patreon Power Hour: A rare chance to actually see Conor McGregor fight

We talk a lot about Conor McGregor in MMA. By virtue of the unique place he's carved out for himself in the sport, you might even say he manages to "live rent-free in all our heads" (or whatever the kids used to say) while not actually coming around all that much. This weekend a UFC 257, however, MMA fans could potentially see something they haven't seen from McGregor in a long, long time: a competitive fight.

Plus, in Power Rankings, fuck you doing Ottman Azaitar?

CME #431: Say it ain't Yo-el!

The UFC says its release of perennial title contender/lovable  weirdsmobile Yoel Romero is one of about 60 cuts it will make before the  New Year to trim its “inflated” roster. Inflated, huh? That’s an  interesting, hey-this-was-nobody’s-fault kind of way to say it. So,  that’s a bummer. We also talk about Marvin Vettori’s recent win over  Jack Hermansson and preview UFC 256–a fight card that looks fun enough  to make us feel uneasy with six days st...

CME Podcast #427: Five Questions About the Light Heavyweight Division

CME Episode No. 422: A Couple Old Road Dogs

Holly “Holmes” Holm and Carlos “Conduit” Condit both went out there and reminded us who the fuck they were on Saturday. But what now for our two old pals? Plus, the Jon Jones-Israel Adesanya beef gets capital “W” Weird and–oh, look!–another fairly low profile UFC event this weekend.

CME podcast episode #419: All Questions Considered

There were a ton of fights this weekend, and the CME will forego its  normal three-round format in order to talk about as many of them as  possible. We discuss Michelle Waterson’s win over Angela Hill, Ed  Herman’s Dundasso and those terrible low blows in Bellator, among other  things.

CME Patreon Power Hour: Brock Lesnar still lives rent-free in MMA's head. But why?

It's happening again. Those ubiquitous "Brock-to-MMA???" rumors are circulating once more. Stories are being written. Premature odds are being proffered. But ... why? We can almost guarantee this shit ain't really real. Chances are the big fella is back in a WWE ring come Survivor Series. So ... how is it that a 43-year-old Brock Lesnar, more than four years removed from MMA competition, continues to hold our industry's ever-hopeful heart in his meaty fist? We discuss.

CME podcast #409: You're crazy for this one, Jorge Masvidal

Gilbert Burns is out and Jorge Masvidal (probably, almost certainly) in against Kamaru Usman in the UFC 251 main event. It was a circuitous route to the fight that should’ve been headlining this pay-per-view all along, but all’s well that ends well, right. RIGHT?

CME podcast episode #407: Did Curtis Blaydes just get interesting?

Curtis Blaydes told us exactly what he was going to do to Alexander  Volkov on Saturday night and then he went out and did it. He also warned  some of you more punch-and-kick-oriented types that you might not like  it. One person who didn’t? Dana Frederick White Jr., though in fairness  it was likely Blaydes’ comments on fighter pay that set the UFC Prez off. Plus, Emmett vs. Burgos slays and Poirier vs. Hooker is now on deck.
