I did NOT plan ahead very well, and having multiple layers moving at different rates means if I wanted to ink and color this I'd have 90 frames to struggle with.
Instead I'll just clean up the sketch a bit and throw in some rough colors and call it a day. I've got other things to animate.

Here's the first picture I ever drew of Lucky, circa 2006. He was originally supposed to be a cat. I was trying to invent several cats each with their own personalities to play off each other like a TV show or something, but I immediately got bored with all of them except the misfortunate one with the white fur ironically named Lucky.

I don't have a million doodads like most artists, partly because it's so hard to find jerboa figurines and artwork. And I'm picky; there's countless mouse figurines to find, but they're always stumpy little hamstery things, not long and lithe and bouncy like the animal I'm into.
Some of my doodads I found on Etsy, others on Ebay. The jerbo plushie I'm pretty happy with. Secretly every now and then I give him a little squeeze to help calm my soul. Handy little thing.

Here's one way to animate mostly-still images: make a full basic sketch, then cut out one piece at a time and animate them on their own layers.

Maybe a good place to start this little backstory blog is a description of my war room. Well, it's a tiny, windowless room in the basement of my folks' old house. I got my brothers in on it too! Older bro's learning Gimp to throw together some backgrounds for us, which helps tremendously because we just don't have time to do music and writing and sprites AND backgrounds! I'm no longer commuting to Salem as of three weeks ago! I've shaken off the rust and I'm back at drawing big time! Here's a little of what to expect in the next month.

Turns out I'm still commuting an hour and a half each day and still haven't had time for art. All I have to do now is finish up the job I have going on down there and they'll transfer me to a closer job site. Sometime in August.

EDIT: The version I originally uploaded was missing an important frame and for some reason slow. I fixed that, then made the whole thing available to all patrons.
