These were exactly what it says on the tin.
I have a bit of a problem drawing wrists. I never quite can get them to be elegant. You can see that I often resort to watches or bracers or gloves for character designs. It's a method of covering up deficiencies that can improve some designs but ultimately just hold me back. So working on that is gonna be a matter of extreme importance over the next year.

I'm still a bit wonk these days, I blame lack of sunlight and exercise.
Anyway, not to bore you with all that. Let's just talk about having to use logic as an artist. As a comic artist, or someone doing commissions, or doing characters. you can be limited by what stock items you already know how to draw. You might lack the time it takes to really study something and make it come to life in an illustration so, given constraints you do what you can using what you already know.
I am very tired and I don't really have anything intelligent to say right now.

It can be a good thing to do. Though that means this isn't really post-able anywhere else. It's not a trace but I wanted to copy something of how this person inked. I didn't get it perfectly, but it was definitely a worth while learning experience.

So I actually managed to forget my computer problems from earlier in the week, for better or for worse. The fan that's kinda blown out or non functioning wasn't an absolutely integral part of the PC. If it was the CPU fan or a GPU fan or god forbid the PSU fan it would be a totally different story. Okay, so I've been on a bit of an April O'neil sketch thing recently. And probably like many kids of my age, 80's April getting into goofy sticky situations was something we remembered very fondly. I actually find the act of painting to be pretty soothing. It's a little surprising I don't indulge in it enough or practice it enough. But it's one of the methods of creating art that came fairly natural to me once it was on a pen. It took a while before I could come to grips with retaining strong edges, and years of working on coloring pen and ink comics have given me new tools to work with.
Still, I suppose I avoid using painterly colors or finishes because something in my head tells me...

On the other hand, I did get to put this sketch out which uses a method of drawing I hadn't done in maybe a year now. There are definitely a lot of nice things I could bring back from it, meaning the pencil and rough inks.

I better put this out there, I missed a couple of sketch updates! It might be a little hard to decipher what's going on if you're unfamiliar with the comic and don't have the script but I actually think this ended up pretty good in layout.

On the left there, I deliberately drew from a specific Yuuske Murata drawing of Fubuki in One Punch Man. I'd certainly enjoy doing more one punch man fan art in the future.
The girl on the right is kinda cool but if I were sketching her again I'd change her hairstyle. The outfit is a mix mash of various hip hop styles but is missing something to merge together.

This might not be interesting data to most of you but it's an interesting thing for me to look at. Sometimes I mistakenly think I could get away with the color layer pretty quickly but quite frankly there's a lot going on under there. You certainly couldn't publish a page at THIS particular level of quality but if I were to alter my process some it wouldn't be impossible to avoid lineart entirely.

The drawing itself isn't the most creative thing I've ever done, that's for sure. If you're interested, there's a High Resolution file somewhere in the high res drop box. But I thought it'd be nice to go over some of the very basics of this pretty quick method for developing a quick drawing. I wanted to but I probably won't. I really like Street Fighter merchandise, and characters. I like the game too. But I know I'll never play enough of it to get the most out of the game.
