Before and after progress

I thumb my pages while I script so I can see my pacing in real time, but that means a lot of the time I’ll just scribble something down and be like “that’s a problem for future Kelly”, in case anyone would like to see the nonsense I leave for myself to sort out later.

Some of the things that may not seem like much but had to be sorted out when I tied down these pages was one, that the creature was basically same pose and same size in the second and fifth panels, so it looked lik...

Jesus I don’t know why this page kicked my ass so hard but I had a miserable time figuring out the logistics of it. Everything just felt so crammed and difficult to follow. As detailed as these pages get I try very hard to maintain clarity and strong contrast between detailed inks, tones, and empty black and white spaces, so hopefully this ended up being an acceptable compromise.

OKAY so that move ended up being the most brutal one I’ve ever been through, turns out when you live in a place with a big closet and an attic for ten years you accumulate a lot of stuff that you don’t really need to bring with you. But I’m here in the new place with all the modern conveniences like indoor heat and central AC, a kitchen that two people can stand in at once, and no rats.

But now I’m in the new place and I can get back to drawing this horrible fish thing.

I’m still moving (it’s going slowwww) but I had this realization drawing this page like wow, this creature sure takes a long time to draw. And this environment takes a long time to draw. And these chains all take a long time the draw… so please enjoy watching me make these poor descisions in real time.

Since it’s probably gonna be a hot minute before I get to the colour slipshine comic again I’m taking all the people that volunteered to be in the gundam lineup and putting them in the crowd at this cage match (there will be a LOT of crowds in this chapter) so if anyone else wiuld like to get in on this and add themselves/their characters to the crowd just send along a ref!

Hey all, been a hell of a couple of weeks. I actually drew about half of this at Wasteland, but I just couldn’t focus well enough plugged into a solar battery on a folding lawn chair out in the Mojave to sort out all those pipes and had to finish it when I got back.

You may have heard already but my pet pigeon, Coocy, died suddenly and unexpectedly about a week and a half ago so that’s been rough.
