After Therapy (first voice note)

here's the first voice note i recorded for after therapy! i came up with this like.. 15 minutes before the end of a writing session with tiggs and rajiv (kickin trash, better days, i just wont care, after therapy) and got really excited about it!

it was honestly the first thing that came to my head and i thought it sounded cool and they agreed!

Here's the first voice note I have for TMTYO, I recorded it in my living room.

I still think this one sounds cool and it's probably one of my favourite verse/chorus ideas. It sounded so emo but it also felt like it fit. Was so excited to write this one and KNEW I had to write it with Stef and Rory.

Pity First Demo

This is the first demo I wrote for Pity and it sounds so much like song 2 LMAO

That was the first thing we changed about it when I went into the studio with Jason Perry and Ratboy.

The bass does sound kinda sick for a garageband demo though, thanks for letting me borrow that bass without the headstock Phoenix!

Pity Acapella Voice Note

Here's what most of my voice notes sound like.. me making mouth noises and tapping and kinda mumbling lool.

The idea of pity came from seeing what was going on in the world with BLM and feeling really pissed off about it. WEIRDOS - FIRST GARAGEBAND DEMO

Here's the first demo I have for Weirdos, I remember really liking the verse lyrically and melodically but really not liking the instrumental. I felt like the lead guitar was a bit cheesy and generic but I actually really like playing it live now, it definitely grew on me.

The chorus makes me cringe a bit but I see what I was going for with it.

Stupid First Voice Note

I'm leaving? I'll build a rocket for you? This doesn't make any sense, I must have just been looking for a two syllable word and put leaving there as a placeholder.

You can tell I changed up the melody for the final version but listening to this and then to the final version of the song is very funny to me.

Stupid Second Voice Note

This was the second voice note I have for Stupid. For this one I went with the lyrics more than I went with the melody since that obviously changed. 

I can hear where I was trying to go with it but I think the verse I have now makes much more song.

Underachiever First Voice Note (Chorus)

Here's the first voice note where I recorded the melody and a few lyrics for the chorus of underachiever! 

I was obviously in my self pity era... "nobody cares about the life of an underachiever", a tad dramatic. I definitely much prefer "nothing compares to the life of an underachiever".

I remember being really proud of writing the first verse for Underachiever. It's weird listening back to this voice note though because I recorded this before my voice had fully dropped so I'm a lil bit squeaky.

I'm also very glad I ended up making the first chorus much stabbier with the guitar, it definitely makes much more sense.

Chasing Daylight Demo

I was very clearly very insecure about my voice considering the amount of distortion I put on my vocals. I haven't listened to this in years and I actually cannot stand listening to how I sung this for longer than a few minutes wtf was I pronouncing words like that for... There's nothing wrong with it it's just weird how different my voice sounds and how different I sung it in the final recording and how different I now sing it live...
