Ch3 & 4 Carla Sketches

Ch3 Page:
Just the general mood for Carla in the latter half of this chapter. I suppose this was expression/pose practice. My favorites are the very first sketch (top-left), the running pose right next to it, curled-up-carla, and the small headshot with shaded lips at the bottom that just struck me as surprisingly well executed and pretty. I love her.
Ch4 Page:
I felt bad for drawing so much Carla Angst, so I switched gears to something more lighthearted. I wanted to explore Carla's look for the next chapter. I wanna get better at designing wardrobes and outfits and such - clothes can inform a lot about a character, and even if I don't color chapters, it's probably best to plan out what sort of outfit I'll be willing to draw over and over.
Carla typically dresses very formally. She wears a lot of suits, smart pants, tight skirts and dresses. Stuff that looks clean, classy, controlled. But when she's at home, I imagine she basically lives in large tank tops and shorts. Moira and Eve are probably the only people who ever see her so casually dressed.
In chapter 4 (spoiler alert), the girls go to see Moira's dads. Carla grew up with Moira as her best friend, so she's very familiar with Jackson and Danielle. However, she's the sort of kid who always held a considerable amount of respect for parental figures, so while she is comfortable around them (tank-top undershirt), she still wants to look nice and mature when visiting (open front cardigan). The cardigan was originally conceived with large, loose sleeves, but that felt too free and relaxed, so they're more firm on her wrists.
Her messy bun adds to this dichotomy a little: buns are usually considered 'stuffy' I think, and practical, since they keep hair out of your face. But honestly the main reason I wanted it was for variety, given Carla's hair has been down since page one.
