haircut
Added 2023-05-07 14:00:05 +0000 UTCexploring the princess a bit, thought about what her first haircut might be like after she's taken captive. this probably happens two or three weeks after she's kidnapped. her hair is very long - ive found i really enjoy the trope of long hair being narratively significant and then characters (possibly) having it cut for xyz reason.
in this, it's because she's a princess and long hair = femininity, and all that other good stuff (like how longer hair takes more effort to care for and make look nice, which she'd typically have others assist her with, aka shows of wealth, you get the idea). up to to this point, she has been fairly neutral on her hair, probably not thinking of it much beyond general inconvenience for how much maintenance it requires. now, trapped against her will with no one else who knows how to handle hair, she gets fed up with it. the only reason it takes more than one week for her to opt to cut it is because of the sunk cost feeling that comes with getting rid of it - and, if she ever escapes, her mother is going to be furious.
she finds shorter hair very freeing... it remains messy for a while, but way easier to clean and deal with. i find i like the short cut i've drawn here, too. she may get it done even shorter as she draws closer to exploring her feelings with gender.
