Here’s a little introduction to the world of Humanity Lost:

By the 26th century Humanity had done away with the nation states of the past and had moved to a global centralised authoritarian form of governance. That isn’t to say that the nations were done away with all together. Some small balkanised ethno-pluralist and religious states survived the globalist takeover of the 22nd century But they are for the most part, insular and powerless to influence the course of human civilisation. 

Generally speaking, the United Earth government controlled the collective destiny of Human-kind. Under their rule, humanity populated every major celestial body in our solar system including two extrasolar planets. The seat of U.E. Governance being Earth’s moon, because of its proximity to earth and its ease of access to the rest of the solar system, the moon (or Luna, as it’s also called) became the most populous body in the solar system and therefore the centre of human civilisation. Most people living within the vast terraformed environments of the lava tubes. The U.E. had also established colonies around two star systems and had sent unmanned probes to a further 13 stars. Only one had turned out to boast life; the “light” system (its name given to it by its inhabitants). Around this star was the binary planetary system of Philyra and Chiron. Surprisingly the life harbouring planet of Chiron hosted a species of sophonts named the Chantauri. What were the chances of the first found extraterrestrial life being intelligent? Alas Human-Chantauri relations were somewhat turbulent, with the Chantauri being less advanced and generally less intelligent than the Humans. This led to an unequal power dynamic and the oppression and subjugation of the Chantauri people. There were revolts, terror attacks and even wars waged against the Humans by the various nations of the Chantauri. But the Humans meddled with internal politics and pitted Chantauri against Chantauri, keeping them down and under the thumb of the U.E.
This cruel treatment attracted the attention and the ire of a previously unknown alliance of alien systems known as the Conglomerate. The Conglomerate was comprised of various races such as; the Soeus, the Pekt, the Yarkeen, the Ounegg, the Velousians and the Breimheinians. 
the Conglomerate offered the U.E. an ultimatum because of their mistreatment of the Chantauri and their own kind. Either Humanity must become a member species or the Conglomerate would rein righteous fury down upon them and annex administration of Humanity for themselves. Unwilling to relinquish control, in the year 2567 A.D the U.E. opted for war. 
In the subsequent years, Humanity was utterly decimated! The Conglomerate were vastly more powerful and greatly outnumbered Humanity. The war was completely one sided. The Humans were hopelessly beaten on every battlefield that they faced the Conglomerate on, all the way back to Earth. In their desperation, Humanity did the unthinkable; they activated an artificial super intelligence to help them win the war. Win the war it did, but Humanity as we know it… was lost. The singularity talked about for centuries was finally upon us. This AI began integrating itself with Humanity, on a biological and technological level. Genetically altering us for the battlefield, they weren’t humans anymore; just avatars for their machine god. It began calling itself the ALL-MOTHER, and so her new empire would furthermore be known as the Imperium. 

The Conglomerate didn’t stand a chance against this unfeeling, relentless tide known as the Imperium. Every world they took was transformed into a biomechanical factory known as a Womb World, spewing out more Imperium troops and ships to continue the cyclical nature of the Imperium’s malignant expansion. 

For the first time in their history, the Conglomerate were on the back foot. They were forced to side with the other sentients of the galaxy, even former enemies like the Kolaxans and the Gord. They also made allies of refugee races whose worlds were transformed into Womb Worlds by the expanding Imperium, races like the Bo and the Vureii. No life was safe from the Imperium. And this is where the Humanity Lost comic book series begins…
