FYI - Arrows work differently in this version than other versions. An "arrow" in this one is a non-consumable piece of equipment. It works like any other weapon. Therefore unlimited arrows. I've pretty much always have used Rosa like an archer (in addition to being a healer). Many of her arrows are very effective especially against certain enemies. Also you find many arrows in chests. Therefore you don't really have to pay for them.

Turn based RPGs are more about role playing than about skill. Your characters have simulated skills represented by numbers. This is all to streamline everything so you can focus on role playing as a character or characters rather than focusing on gaining skills in the real activity. People who are not great at action games or people who just don't find action games fun would probably appreciate this style of game especially. There is a bit of action and timing in FFIV but it isn't and action game. Action rpgs put more emphasis on action but still utilize the simulation of skills by numbers to some extent. I have a friend who only plays rpgs because despite the fact that he could be quite good at action games he just doesn't find them as engaging as rpgs. He really likes numbers though and is one of those min maxer types. Considering the roots of rpgs came from strategy war games this makes sense that they emphasize strategy more than moment to moment skill. The imagination and character role playing was introduced in dungeons and dragons but there still is that lingering aspect of gameplay being a battle commander or general commanding your armies instead of directly controlling your character like in dark souls.

Imagine if these older games get the Octopath treatment.
