Meditation Motivation Challenge!

Whether you are participating in Incal Club or not, you are invited to join May's Meditation Motivation Challenge; where we practice the art of meditating each day. If you CHOOSE to ACCEPT this MISSION, here is this week's assignment and some meditation options to try. 

There is an audio mp3 of the Alchemical Purification attached that we did on Sunday for those of you who want to start with a guided mediation :) 

Week 1: 5 Minute Daily Practice

Types of Mediation to Try:

Focused; Breath Work

Sit or lay down in a comfortable position with your eyes closed and focus on your breath, count 4 beats while breathing in, hold 4 beats, release the breath over 4 beats, and remain empty for 4 beats, repeat until your time is up.

Visualization; Alchemical Purification (Mark Stavish; Kabbalah for Health and Wellness)

Sit in a comfortable position with eyes closed. Visualize the Sun and the Moon above you. The Sun is on your right and the Moon is on your left. Imagine their energies combining, the Sun giving off life energy and the Moon absorbing and reflecting it.

The two energies mix and project a point of energy forming an invisible triangle pointing down into the top of your head.

Imagine this energy entering your body and filling it with brilliant white light, pushing all the negative energies down and out of your body to be absorbed by the Earth. It travels into the fiery core of the planet, purifying and recycling all the emotional/psychic/mental refuse you have let go of.

Imagine yourself being so filled with the dynamic energy of the Sun and Moon that it begins radiating outward from you and the purification, happiness, and stability this brings. Rest in this feeling.

Close your mediation with a prayer of gratitude for what you have experienced and dedicate any benefits you receive to your “Path of Becoming” and to that of others.

Mindfulness; Zazen (Damien Echols; Angels and Archangels, A Magician’s Guide)

Sit on your knees (on a cushion) or “indian style” with your eyes open in a soft gaze at the floor a few feet in front of you. Rest your hands in your lap with palms up, one on top of the other, with your thumbs touching, as if you were holding a giant egg. Try not to move, sit up straight and be as still as possible.

Now pay attention. Pay attention to your body when it starts to hurt. Pay attention to your thoughts. Pay attention to your breath.

While paying attention to the present moment, try not to make judgment calls. Just witness what is happening without getting distracted and sucked into your thoughts. Try to experience whatever comes up and do your best to come back to the present moment over and over again when you find yourself getting carried about by your thoughts. Be gentle and forgiving with yourself when you notice you've become distracted.
