This issue went across a lot of different environments!! We start at the acid whirlpool, the garbage mountains, the flying storage container, the labyrinth of the interior sun tower, then make it to the centre of the interior sun! Then it shifts to the magaholiness golden planet for the coup, then back in the interior sun they go through the vibrating mirror to the crystal forest, then we shift to see the prison aquaend! Then back at the crystal forest there's the spiral ramp and the long fall inside to the eventual transfiguration, they broadcast Difool across the empire screaming to leave your conapts and go into the world, towards the light! And then we end in the vast emptiness of space seeing the sun being devoured by the shadow egg. Wow. All in one issue!!! It's so much, such a huge vast journey. I'm not sure what it all means but it was a wild ride! Then the final image is someone floating, dead-like above the army? Do we know who this floating figure is? Too wild! What does this all mean Danika!? π

2022-05-15 22:10:06 +0000 UTCI was afraid I would have trouble getting into the Incal. As I get older, it gets harder for me to get invested in new comic worlds beyond Mavel, DC / Vertigo. But I find myself eating this thing up and reaching the end of each section upset that it is over so soon. Question - considering Solune has a neutral name, and is explicitly refered as a perfect androgyne, why is he referred to constantly as son / he? When they obviously have he/she as an acceptable pronoun?
2022-05-15 19:56:13 +0000 UTCI was really struck in reading What Lies Beneath, (particularly when they reach the tower under the sun): the coloration of the panels; how Jodorowsky and MΓΆbius appear to heavily use the colors in the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot; the vivid yellow on page 125, (sun card signifying contentment, marriage-becoming one?) and blues and reds (the Necrodroid) are like those in the Major Arcana, particularly the Sun and Moon card. I actually pulled out my RWS deck to compare it and the color palettes are very similar! What do you think, was this intentional or coincidence? Since you've taught the Tarot, what comparisons would you make?

2022-05-15 13:39:33 +0000 UTCA few things: 1- Can't help but notice John DiFool's more perfect/beautiful Incal influenced form, his face and hair at least, bears strong resemblence to the Prezident's pre-necrodroid clone body. 2- Speaking of the Necrodroid, it goes from flying saucer to giant robot, which is reminiscent of Grendizer, a 1975 Japanese anime mecha/robot show known in France and other French speaking regions as Goldorak 3- As the group goes deeper through more trials, the necrodroid breaks down and transforms, eventually reduced to nothing more than an alien/insectoid looking camera. Can you comment on this descent from active danger into passive witness? 4- Big surprise, Selune's actual father is DiFool, who mated with Animah in disguise as a homeo-whore. Then Animah chose the Meta-Baron as Selune's protector/father figure. This infant exchange has parallels in literature and mythology, though usually it is a chosen one from a kingly father given to more humble adoptive fathers (e.g. King Arthur). Here the genetic father is the lower class individual (and perhaps the actual chosen one), and the adoptive father is a badass. What are your thoughts on this infant switcheroo situation?
