Shriekcast Plays Alan Wake Pt. 2: That Was Scary!

We were too busy to get a main episode done this week, but we did get together to record a new installment of our Alan Wake LP! On this week's adventure we get spooked by a weird guy in a cabin, run around in the woods a lot, and attempt to set the world record for a Flareless Run.

These LPs are delightful, and the face cams're great! If XeeCee never got around to playing the American Nightmare DLC, perhaps consider swapping seats for that before moving on to Alan Wake 2? (IIRC it's got cool gaiden vibes, but has more of a weapon/combat focus) Or even some Episodes of Control would bridge well, (was surprised at just how much Bureau of Control there is in AW2)

that toilet surprise is literally the worst I've ever been jumpscared. the only clear memory I have of playing this game is how fucking bad that got me.

Loving these, excited for more Alan Woke

falling out of my chair at the ending needle drop from the House of Leaves tie-in album

Was not expecting a VtM: Bloodlines shout out! What a good game. I wonder if the 2nd one will ever escape development hell. Loving these Let's Plays so far. Alan Wake's always interested me, but it's probably too scary for me to play by myself lol

Loving the let's play, would be cool to see you do Life is Strange some time. It has a similar episodic structure and is very PNWish

little extra context about the Max Payne connection! the line "This was a late goodbye." from the novel at the start is a reference to the song Late Goodbye by Poets of the Fall, which was featured prominently in Max Payne 2! Poets are good friends with the devs at Remedy and one of my favourite bands growing up! You can look forward to some of their songs later in Alan Wake, too!

Ooh, it says it's locked so I guess that was for the $15 tier :0c mystery solved! (Now why is part 2 for $5 tier too afgssf mystery continues)

The comparisons between Deadly Premonition and Alan Wake are completely justified, especially when both came out in 2010 and 3 years after the Twin Peaks boxset went international. Really enjoying these LP videos, excited for more!

Free future post title: Alan Woke I like these let's plays, the only way I can enjoy horror games is watching someone else play them

A sudden absence of bees

If someone comes at you waving a chainsaw around, they also have some beefy arm muscles you have to defeat

A sudden absence of bees

From Chainsaws as a weapon. I remember Skallagrim putting them at place 5 of best Horror Movie Weapons, listing all the ways why they actually suck and why the weapons(Knives for example) before them are objectively better. Then he justified the placement with intimidation, cause if he had to choose between fighting someone with a knife and someone with a chainsaw, he'd still choose the knife-guy despite reason telling him otherwise.

Don't you appreciate the deep commentary on how people's whole lifes in capitalism are just reduced to their job description until they die. That's truly scary /s.
