Updates to Patreon!!

Alright, so I just got word from Patreon they are changing how things work... So how it worked up until now was the patrons gave a pledge, then patreon took a small service fee, then the companies that handled the transaction took a fee, and if the patron is outside the US there was a small tax removed... so ultimately we creators would get 75-85% of the pledge. I always thought it was a pretty sweet deal. If you ever get into a gallery and sell an artwork, on average the gallery takes over half.

Anyways, so how it's going to work now is that the fees are falling on the Patrons instead of the creators, so on the next transaction day (the beginning of January) Patrons will be charged for their pledge, +2.9% and an additional .35 cents. I guess this rule was implemented because many sites have 1$ pledges that were making the fees harder to deal with.

So the reason I am posting about this is a lot of people are upset, I personally wish Patreon did not make the change, I preferred the selling numbers to be easier and whole numbers. I guess this means the 5 dollar bids will become 5.50 if I am doing my math right... 10 will be 10.65,
20 will be almost 21, and 50 will be 51.45 (though I suck at math, and am not sure these numbers are correct). I am not enraged or anything at Patreon, I think they run a good service... I wish I could have just chosen to opt out of this.

Ultimately I want to be transparent with you guys. I understand some of you are not okay with this (and I get it), and I wanted to make sure everyone knew about the changes and don't get surprised by the extra fee. Once again I want to let you know this is nothing I nor any other creator asked for, we just got the email yesterday. If this is something that really bothers you and makes you want to leave I understand and will hold no grudges. For those who stick around I will keep rolling out new content at the same rate and hope you keep enjoying the pinups!
