Supreme Court Briefs - Planned Parenthood v. Casey

Unfortunately, this video has been demonetized since I discuss abortion. This is not really much of a surprise, but I wanted to also bring up that this is yet another reason why I am so grateful for your donations on here, since this ideally I wouldn't ever have to worry about ad revenue to begin with.

Which other Supreme Court cases should I cover for this series? I plan to pick up production of them in the fall.

Thank you for your continued support!

Supreme Court Briefs - Planned Parenthood v. Casey

I've totally wanted to cover that one for awhile but actually forgot about it! Thanks for suggesting it.

Mr. Beat

Hi, Mr. Beat, a good case to look at would be Miller v California of 1973, where the Court changed the legal definition of obscene materials.

Chuong Nguyen

I have never understood why people aren’t outraged that more half the justices were appointed by presidents (Bush and Trump) that lost the popular vote. How is that Democratic?Darn electoral college!

Naterade

I doubt it, but you never know with this Court!

Mr. Beat

Crazy to think a Democratic governor signed these restrictions into law! As Bob Dylan once sang, “The times they are a- changin’ “ Do you think there will be a Supreme Court Case about the legality of statewide mask mandates? (Sadly, I am only half kidding)

Naterade

yeah kinda a tug of war that likely caused her more stress then it was worth.

Devin Canada

Interesting. I think it is revealing how desperately both pro-choice and pro-life people want "Roe" from Roe v. Wade to be on their side.

This is the first ive heard of this but There seems to be doubts on that. it was a death bed confession and she was unable to revew the scene before she died. Interviews have been doctored before and being paid as a speaker is common practice so i doubt she was offered money to change views but only to speek. its possible that she saw a opertunity to switch sides and make money but i really call it iffy. Abby Johnson another pro life leader who used to work for planned parenthood said that she believed McCorvey was a damaged woman who should not have been thrust into the spotlight so quickly after turning against abortion. "I don’t have any problem believing that in the last year of her life that she tried to convince herself abortion was OK. But I know at the end of her life, she did not believe that,"

Devin Canada

Can we have a F for Mr. Beat's video for being Demonetized

Waterfort

Thanks for sharing. I do wonder if they will be overturning this case in the fall.

Mr. Beat

As it turns out, Jane Roe (Norma McCorvey) was no longer pro-life before she died. https://www.seattletimes.com/entertainment/the-woman-behind-roe-vs-wade-didnt-change-her-mind-on-abortion-she-was-paid/

Mr. Beat

Ohh that's a great suggestion that I forgot entirely about.

Mr. Beat

I really want to see you do "Ex Parte Bollman" this supreme court case gets my blood boiling but I don't know the full story other then in involed Aaron Burrs plot.

Devin Canada

Interesting notes too. Jane Roe is now pro life. Alveda King the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. is considered by some as the leading pro life Advocate.

Devin Canada

The cases ruling is heart braking i think by finding that one clause as reason for the ruling they set up men for being abused. i have heard of cases were a mans child was executed via abortion because of the women braking up, or pressure from her parents and this case took away the mans ability to defend his child if the child is still in the womb. I also find their usesage of the Constitution to be shaky and really bad word play to justify their ruling.

Devin Canada

That one has actually been on my list for awhile!

Mr. Beat

Nice suggestion

Mr. Beat

Engblom v Carey because it's one of the few 3rd amendment cases.

Jack Bartlett

Hollingsworth v Perry because even though it's about same sex marriage, the real issue is Article III standing. That's something that isn't discussed often in supreme court briefs.

Jack Bartlett

I'm sure this is not going to be controversial at all
