Americans First Time Watching The Inbetweeners S1E2 Bunk Off

No it doesn't lol. It's bent, as in not straight

Samuel Evans

Bender means Gender bender, as in acting like a woman

Craig Fowler

It was also so exciting when you said the first alcoholic thing and they didn't ask for ID 😅

Jamie Derry

A bender... It comes from, straight people are straight, so gay people are bent, cause their not straight. There ya go

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

I’m so happy you guys are enjoying The Inbetweeners! Ps I love your T-shirt Stephen 🤣

I think our Sixth Form is the same as your Junior High? Our secondary schools go from Year 7 - Year 11 and then we can either go to a Sixth Form for 2 years or to a College. Our laws changed a while ago so you can still leave school at 16, but must stay in education until 18. Some of our secondary schools have a sixth form as part of the school, but some don't so you'd have to change schools or go to college. This show is hilarious by the way - you've GOT to do the whole lot now! 😂

Jason White

Don't worry about your laugh. Apparently I laugh like mutley. You're going to love the rest of this journey!

Paul Bagnall

Sixth form is the sixth year of senior school. When I went to school you did 2 years at infant school then 4 years at primary school then 5 years at senior school with the option to do 2 more years, lower sixth then upper sixth. 3 different schools

Smiffy

Oh, you are in for a real treat ❤️

Emma Edwards

Im an old Englishman, I joined the patreon for Bottom, and i never watched The Inbetweeners when it first aired, but after watching you two react to these first two episodes, im really looking forward to watching it alongside you. When it came out it was praised for its writing, and it made the careers of all the actors involved. I guess we're all in for a fun time :)

Negative Damage

If these two episodes made Stephen laugh this much, I think series 2 or 3 might literally kill him

I-Love-My-Brick

I absolutely loved your reaction to this. Stevie, that is definitely the most animated and completely creased in laughter i have ever seen you, i loved it. As has been said, this was tame compared to what's to come. I can't wait to go on this journey with you guys :)

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

Just a heads up you'll want the subtitles off because there are so many moments which take you by surprise! Enjoy the journey you will come out as different people 🤣

Sam

I think it’s changed so they still need to be in some form of education until 18 now. They can go get a job but I think it has to be work based training, like an apprenticeship.

Emma Edwards

This one of those shows that starts great and just gets better and better. You guys are going to love it, and probably learn some filthy words along the way.

James Ellison

Carly? Sweet? lol

Moody Marco

It only gets better from here.

In the UK, we are legally obliged to be in school until the age of 16. Sixth form is for 17-18 year olds who wish to continue their education in a school like fashion. A lot of people just tend to go straight from school at 16 to higher education like a college for a few years, usually to specialize their interests or chosen trade. Though there are some that simply wish to leave school as soon as possible and get a full-time job.

Belekai

love it

Nothinghalo

Ah just go with the laugh, it’s great

Kieran B

Watched you for years, never seen Steve laugh so much. Great reaction and hope the chat doesn’t spoil any future episodes for you. Much love ❤️

Mark Sanders

We only go to the same school for middle and high school - although in some places that exists, I did 2 years at a Middle School till it fully merged with the high school it was linked with

Kieran B

This is from last ep so some references might not make sense, but this is what Sixth Form is (and more context about the school system) - Sixth Form is the last two years of secondary school here (16-18 so the same as high school in the US). Secondary school is 11-18 which is why there’s so many little kids having a go at Will 😂 In Sixth Form you do A-levels but you only study 3-4 subjects for the 2 years, based on what you want to study at university - and here you only study a single subject at university (or 2 if you do Joint Honours) for 3 years rather than picking a Major as part of a 4-year degree. It’s only the grades you get on the exams, that determine whether you have a chance of getting into the university. Literally nothing else counts, no extracurriculars or class contribution etc, there’s no GPA. So universities will say, or they did back then they need AAA, meaning your overall grade for each from your final exams and coursework needs to be A in each - I think that’s what my University needed. And depending on what you’re going to study they’ll require an A-level in that subject or a related one. They’re a little bit like APs from what I understand, but you have to do them and it’s the entire focus On top of that some Universities may interview you, others may not. The grading scales don’t exactly align either, an A is more difficult here for example - that’s not a criticism of the US system, they just scale things differently and it often causes confusion. If you get 80% or more for a University essay for example it means it’s of publishable quality in the field you’re studying. Also here all school exams and essays that count are marked centrally and not by your teacher. None are multiple choice either. Just to give some context and comparison, and it is relevant at times. (That’s for England and Wales specifically, I know Scotland works differently)

Sixth form is the final 2 years of school for 16 to 18 year olds (year 12 and year 13 of school), but those 2 years were optional. Between high school (years 7 to 11) and university, there are 2 years which could be done at a college or in sixth form. I’m not sure if years 12 and 13 are optional these days. It might have changed

Michael McGuinness

Basically they’re 12th graders at this point, Sixth Formers are 11th & 12th Grade. We leave high school after your “10th Grade” then go onto college/sixth form.

Glitch

So we leave high school before 16 to go to college, but Sixth Form stay in the same high school, (not exclusive to all high schools only ones with a College educational capability) - Sixth Formers are your equivalent of Seniors who stayed in school, even though they could legally leave school after 16… so they’re basically seniors but in a college mentality.

Glitch

Steve don’t be insecure about your laugh mate, it’s quality! I love those people that when they laugh you can’t help but laugh too! The ‘frothing at the gash’ line from Jay always kills me 🤣

MarkCity10

I love how “...she'll be frothing at the gash” is so vulgar Americans usually miss it

Sean Riley

Steve was bordering on Liza Minelli jazz hands at the start of this.
