2025-02-15 20:35:13 +0000 UTCOverall, this song / work was too busy for my plebeian tastes. But I like artists to experiment and mix things up. They learn, and we learn to hear and appreciate new things. I do like songs that are in a bit more stripped down, but still in a crossover space. I miss the jazz inflected rock of the early 1970’s. I miss sax in popular music. And I like artists like P!nk, that include and seem to really appreciate their background singers, even if it’s just in concert situations. I do listen to Raye, but like Joni Mitchell was, I think she’s sometimes going to be more a musician’s musician, than someone I always connect with. If you know what I mean. Thanks so much for reacting. You help me hear new things.

2025-02-14 21:43:18 +0000 UTCThat was an experience. At first I was "Oh, I'm not going to like this". But, I couldn't stop listening just the same and the song drew me further and further in. I never knew that there was a "UK style" so it's all very new to me and I'm going to have to listen to more in order to say anything really intelligent about it. As for artists, well, Nightwish of course, preferably "Romanticide" because it is very different from GLS and because it gives every single member of the band a chance to shine.
