NIGHTWISH-'Phantom of the Opera' EARLY RELEASE💥

Watch it here first, FREE OF YOUTUBE ADS!

While I'm waiting for the brand who is sponsoring this video (AHH!) to give their final approval, I don't see any reason why I can't share this with you all over here on Patreon!

The video could go live on YouTube later today or it could take a few days. I'm not sure.

If you are going to watch it first over here, I would love for you to leave some more comments on the YouTube video as well! I'm excited to push this band out to my subscribers that haven't heard of them and the more comments and engagement we get, the more new people will be exposed to this incredible project.

Thanks as always for your support over here! Awesome to have some Nightwish fans joining up on the journey with me. 🤘🔥

… also, when I get back from my vacation, I'm going to listen to the Wacken ‘Ghost Love Score’ with you all.

Cheers!

Tim

NIGHTWISH-'Phantom of the Opera' EARLY RELEASE💥

Comments

My words apply specifically to this performance of the phantom. I do not perceive other options, in a different composition, nothing can be done about it.

Oleg Kaminsky

Fair enough. Salon singer, what you called her earlier, does sound dismissive, though.

Hans Reese

I'm not hostile. Just not for me personally.

Oleg Kaminsky

Yes, we got it the first time. Noone is disputing Tarja's unique briljance. But dismissing Floor as a mere "salonsinger"? Really? I prefer Floor, but I can acknowledge that *without* putting Tarja down. Ironically, Floor and Tarja are good friends with great mutual respect.

Hans Reese

Tarja had the voice and timbre of a Viking witch. All the substitutions didn't give me that feeling.

Oleg Kaminsky

OK, thanks for that. I’m happy to put both of them up if that’s what the community wants.

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

👍🏻

Hans Reese

Tarja is an opera singer, Floor is a salon singer. Alas, without Tarja I stopped listening to Nightwitch

Oleg Kaminsky

Oh, if you don't put this on YouTube and do put Floor's version there, you are going to get a lot of comments from the Army that you should react to this version. This is one of the Army' favorite songs for reactions, and so many of us love that so many vocal coaches come to listen to Tarja and end up being blown away by Marko. And, yes, by the way, Marko, older and grayer, is the singer in the song you heard on the live stream "Rebel of the North."

Gaye McCullough

I just did it with Floor and Henk too!

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

I did this one! https://youtu.be/TM23gaT4zkY?feature=shared

Same. That dirty, gritty sound just fits the phantom's character so much better than the pretty classical tenor sound. Marko brings an unhinged, manic sort of insanity to the vocal that feels very villainous.

Sebrina

As far as this version being the gold standard, yes. I love Floor, but her version just doesn't give me the same visceral reaction. I was lucky enough as a teen to see Nightwish about a year before this concert, and Phantom was in the setlist. I still remember the goosebumps and the hairs on my arms standing on end, the total immersion in such a powerful sound. Phantom has always had a huge place in my heart. The original London cast album was the first CD my mom bought herself when we finally got a CD player, and it was the first professional musical I ever saw when the US tour came through when I was in middle school. But this version, hands down, is my favorite.

Sebrina

Yes, Floor, singer for the Wacken 2013 show, also did a version of PotO. This was on Dutch tv (De Beste Zangers) with Henk Poort, who did the Phantom in the Netherlands, and was Andrew Lloyd Webber's favourite Phantom for some time.

Hans Reese

And you mention it only one other time... At about 4:02. In my opinion, this is one of the few live songs that I like this performance better than Floor's. One thing, I think Tarja's (TAR-ya) voice is better suited to the song... Secondly, this is the song where most vocal coach's realize that Marko is a beast... In the later Floor version Hank Poort just didn't have the same effect, in my opinion. Hank did perform as the Phantom for many years, so you might disagree. Either way, if you can fix the one time at 4:02 and the ending, you will definitely get a TON of views on this when you post it. It's reacted to a lot more by vocal coaches than Floor's version. I will say though, that Floor's is definitely worth reacting to, and if you do any kind of comparing styles, better not to mention one is "better" than the other... Lol I hope we aren't scaring you from reacting to Nightwish... There are probably 15 live Floor songs that are must-reacts at some point, and she may be one of the most versatile and accomplished technical, yet natural singers in the world... The reactions are great, by the way. All the backstory etc. was interesting and like I said, you'll get a ton of views and people interested in your take on Marko.

Jon Jantz

So I think I might leave this one here, and reshoot with the Floor one.

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

Thanks for the heads up!

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

Oh wait, I did at the end! Yes, I have to edit that out. I’m so glad I posted it over here first!

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

Oh no! I don’t think I mentioned that it was Floor in the video did I? I can definitely edit that out if I did.

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

Marko. Best. Phantom. Ever. The phantom is supposed to be creepy and gritty not some clean bright voice. Once I heard Marko sing this, I knew that Phantom would never be the same for me.

PhilT (Yeni)

Hahaha, Tim, Great Reaction !! I hate to always be the guy warning you that you're gonna get 1,200 correction comments... but this is Tarja, the singer before Annette, who came before Floor. This mistake may be 2nd most commented on NW issue, behind the GLS "wrong" version debate. 😆 Don't know if you can edit that before you post it to YouTube, but if not... ENGAGEMENT. lol

Jon Jantz

Most OG Nightwish fans consider this the gold standard for this song. It may be, and Tarja has a magnificant voice, but unfortunately for me, she seems to only and constantly use her operatic voice. And no matter how great she is with that, I can listen to that for only so long. It's purely a me-thing, so don't shoot me for it. Also, I will avoid comparing her to the two singers that came after her, they all have their own unique sound and audience. I am sure you won't be able to resist listening to more of Nightwish anyway, regardless who's singing... 🤘😎🤘
