Yeah, Brittany is amazing. I haven’t studied her enough!

Hahaha!!! Yes very matrix style for sure.

I also like a more delicate, on-the-verge-of-tears approach but I didn't mind this. Of course, I still love Prince's original version too. Brittany always sounds amazing, but I am curious as to why she is dressed like Morpheus from The Matrix πŸ˜€. Was she handing out the red pills back stage or something? JK of course, I love her.

Thank you for doing this one Tim. Enjoyed your review. I do not know Brittany Howard well but I'm going to dive into her music now. She's fantastic. Imagine seeing her in a small intimate venue! I would have preferred that this was a Britanny solo. Miley didn't add anything to it for me. I agree about the mix. Still enjoyed it, but we did seem to miss a lot.

Thanks Gaye, I’m glad you are having a music appreciation renaissance!

Also as to the mix. Cursed studio. The good ones you've heard of late have been because the artists personal sound crews took control. (Chappell and Billie) and that makes the difference. That room is just shaped weird and has wonky acoustics.

Gaye, this is exactly what Tim hopes to hear. He loves to introduce people to new artists, and you seem to have found a thread to pull upon. I hope you enjoy.

This is a very strong cover of this piece, and the rescoring they adapted is amazingly well done. It's a very modern updating of its sound that I found very refreshing. The two women make this into a Rock-Blues fusion that really brings out the core of the piece and the aspects that Prince infused it with when her wrote it. (It's also shows how strong his construction is) They are able to add a lot of feeling and depth to it without difficulty. Very enjoyable review.

I always feel kind of unqualified to give an opinion about music because of my rather odd personal musical history. I got a major kick in the gut in 1970 when Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix died so close together and I basically quit listening. I didn't listen to much music for about 50 years, just some classical and a bit of country. I started listening again during shutdown so I always feel like I'm playing catchup. Then, I gravitated to hard rock/metal. I have heard of Miley Cyrus, for instance, but I had never heard of Brittany Howard until I listened to this song. From just listening to this song, however, all I can say is that I will be listening to more from Brittany and, I think the band was Alabama Shakes. To my uneducated ear, that is some voice, but I couldn't have told you why. It's why I gravitate towards reactors who know what they are talking about. I want to know what makes me like what I am hearing.
