BTS-'i need u' Reaction

Comments

The music video ties to both the song itself and the Bangtan Universe. It contrasts the happy times together with the darkness of solitary struggles relating to the themes of the song. But it also gives a visual introduction to the different elements that will be addressed within the Bangtan Universe.

As others pointed out, this song (and the Bangtan Universe) is basically about youth and friendship. I would describe the conflicting happy & dramatic scenes as "when we are together = we are happy" vs "when we are separated = our life falls apart".

I want to add that I need U's chorus was originally written as "I need you friend" but it didn't roll off the tongue so they changed it to "I need you girl" and changed some lyrics to fit the romance If you read the lyrics as a friendship breaking apart, the music video makes more sense (they are all happy together and miserable apart)

I just wanted to add that all the members have great solo songs showcasing their individual talents worth checking out and adding to your growing list. It took me some time to just pick 1 song to recommend per member: Jimin: Serendipity https://youtu.be/BEMaH9Sm3lQ?si=eV7hss-g3JUE1v3- JK: Standing Next to You V: Tiny Desk Concert Korea (couldn’t pick 1 song 😅 but here’s 1 video with multiple) Jin: The Astronaut RM: Wild flower J-hope: More Suga known as Agust D for his solo work: Daechwita 대취타

I love all BTS songs, and I did actually consider adding Dope, Fire and Fake Love to the list I had already written out. I just didn’t want it to be too overwhelming so I tried to stick to ones that showcased specific elements and styles they’ve tried. I know for a fact there’s probably others I could have included in that initial post, but there’s so many it’s hard to choose

A ONCE (TWICE's fandom) here and somewhat of a multi-stan (listening to all kind of different groups). As a KPop fan of course I appreciate all the accomplishments made by BTS. I am glad, you considered blkrose_22's recommendations. I was about to comment on your YouTube post about the Dynamite reaction. that the older BTS songs represent their style a little more imho. Dope, Not Today, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Idol, Fire, Fake Love are usually my go to BTS tracks.

I’m always happy to share BTS, and I’ll do my best to answer your questions. First of all ARMY is indeed the name of the fandom. It stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan which translates into Bulletproof Boy Scouts. According to the members themselves, of which there are 7 Kim Namjoon - RM Kim Seokjin - Jin Min Yoongi - Suga Jung Hoseok - J-Hope Park Jimin - Jimin Kim Taehyung- V Jeon Jungkook - Jungkook Their name signifies their desire to “block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that rain on adolescents like bullets”. While that is still a goal, it has expanded to include everyone with their messages of self love. There’s two main reasons why their music, especially at this time, was so raw and emotional. One was because both BTS and their company were going through hard times, but the other is because of why the group was created. Idol culture was, and still is, a very restrictive system where the artists are seen as other. Literal Idols on pedestals who must be perfect. From the beginning BTS was meant to emphasize authenticity, be relatable and actually connect with the fans. So they told their own stories, their experiences and the challenges of society. Sometimes the message is straightforward, and sometimes hidden behind poetic words wrapped in references to literature and philosophy. I Need U as a song explores things like heartbreak and loss while also touching on the struggles of uncertainty as we go from our teenage years into young adulthood. The struggles of an unrequited love, wanting something even though it hurts and the struggle to break free and move on. The music video on the other hand, while it can definitely go along with the theme of struggling in difficult situations, the story it tells does go with the Bangtan Universe. This video does a good job of putting it all together if you’re interested in it. Don’t worry, I will not be offended should you choose to ignore it. https://youtu.be/2-DEu3ZJtEU?si=942SaWWJX_s7gAj1 I wish you the best of luck and enjoyment on your journey down the rabbit hole, and i’ll do my best to answer any questions you may have. ARMY has a saying, once you Jim-in you can’t Jim-out
