Kik made his way to the tavern in the village to do the bard thing, only to get harassed by the local group of thugs trying to extort him for money. Amidst defusing the situation (by way of which I mean giving the ringleader way more lip than he was accustomed to getting, then just ignoring him when one of the PCs came up to chat,) the party rogue decided to kick off the inevitable bar brawl by straight up stabbing the guy so hard Kik could see the room behind him through the gaping wound.
With some further information after the scrum, turns out the guy deserved a killing.. but it certainly seemed to have escalated rather quickly!
