Ryzen AM5 Hynix 16Gb A-die DDR5 timings 2x16GB/2x32GB DDR5-6000 to DDR5-8000 V0.4

This is a more comprehensive version of the easy Hynix DDR5 timings but specifically for 16Gb A-die. Also include dual rank timings which the original easy Hynix timings didn't.

EDIT: V0.2 added some even looser timing to try if you can't get certain speeds to work with your XMP/EXPO defaults.

EDIT: V0.4 loosens tRP a bit to improve compatibility with dual rank kits(2x32GB).

EDIT: V0.5 integrates my findings from my recent tRAS/tRC/rRP/tRTP testing

Hi I noticed that in your preset, tRFC2 and tRFCsb are set to ‘Not Used’. Does that mean they’re on Auto for ASUS motherboards? Also, could you confirm if GDM is enabled and PowerDown is disabled in the BZ Lazy preset?

i bra

Hey BZ, is there any preset or OC for the kingbank Kfrb 2x16gb 6000mhz CL26 memories? I wanted to try to put them at 6200 / 6400 and keep the clan as low as possible.

Silva

That's odd. I don't have the game so can't check that for myself.

MrMayo

No because those speeds on Zen4 and 5 are generally just worse than 6000 to 6400 setups.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Ahoy there! I noticed it says "not used" for tRFC2 and tRFCSB... In Asus language, what option would I choose?

thatguyfromthatplace

Sounds like you have M-die then. Can you do low tRP? (like 6000 30-36-30?)

Hello Buildzoid! Big fan from Brazil! I have a ROG Crosshair 870e Hero + 9800x3d + TridentZ 6000 2x16gb a-die BIOS v1512 Do you know why my system is not booting when I try to set trfc 400 or 432. The system just boot when trfc is set on 480. Could you give me some help on that?

ivanz1to

Hello Buildzoid, thank you for these timings. i have a question about vddq/vddio, now i did use the 8000mhz in your v5 file, and when setting both on auto, vddq = 1.43v and vddio = 1.45v, i’m not sure why my motherboard sets those voltages, but ideally vddio should equal vddq right?

Ibrahim

IDK. I have a B650E-F but I haven't used it in a while so I'm not sure why you'd be having issues. I do want to revisit the 600 series boards eventually but IDK when that eventually will be.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Hello Buildzoid, I have an asus rog b650e-e with a 7800x3d. I have a weird problem where the mb can hold solid (multiple hours of y-cruncher memtest5 etc) your easy hynix die A memory timings from the video (so differnt from the ones in this post). But as soon as i update the bios my setup can't hold them anymore. Same for the one in the v5 both 6000 and 6200 can't keep them working tried all preset including fallback. Sometimes the setting simply won't post, other times are just unstable and fail y-cruncher vst. The Bios version that works is the 2613 that have AGESA 1.1.7.0. do you have any recomendation on what AGESA i can use to keep those settings on a 7800x3d? Or there is any other settins I can tweak to get the timings work on newer bios version?

BakaPhoenix

what settings are you trying to use? Also you should use V0.5

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

I tried v4 with my Corsair ram (cmp64gx5m2b6000c30w) with my 9950x3d and I keep on getting stop codes with xmp setting and these buildzoid values. I've tested the ram with memtest86 and no issues at jedec. I'm not sure what is wrong, memory or CPU memory controller. I am using a x870e taichi

Brett Hall

VDDIO and VDDQ usually work best when set to the same thing. What that should be depends on the motherboard. VDD is pretty much independent from the other 2.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Hello mate, thanks for all these informations, i have a question. I'm with a 7800x3d + Kingston Fury Beast at 6000mhz CL30-36-36 at 1.40 On my Taichi x670e board when activate expo, automatically VDD + VDDQ + VDDIO are set to 1.4V But on my X670e Aorus Master board when activate expo and leave auto as written in the doc. My VDD is set to 1.4V but VDDQ and VDDIO are set to 1.25V as my understanding in your previous video, the correct value should be VDD=VDDQ=VDDIO So i'm little bit confuse, do you think i should manual apply 1.40 for all or juste leave as auto ? Thanks a lot for your time SiLvR From Paris with Love

SilvR

Basically how likely it is for those settings to work. BZ lazy is what I would personally start with. Fallback is for when the other 2 options don't work.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

should i use fallback or easy or bz lazy? what do those mean

Z M

Short question, in your video "Explaining ALL the AMD Ryzen AM5 DDR5 timings" you mention that twrwrscl could be set to 1, yet in these helper guides and the DDR5 Ryzen RAM tuning videos i've seen, it's always set to 2, why is that?

Marv

good for you! I have already tried a whole night and even crashed my windows that I have to reinstall all the things just becoz of the cpu cannot get to 6200 or 6400 stable lol I just gave up and going back to 6000 now

Stanthorus

i confirm , i have bought another one 9800x3D and now i can reach 6400 in 1:1 at 1.20 Vsoc 10hours + stable in karhu , with my first one 9800x3D not sable at 6400 ( bsod ) even at 1.3 vsoc ! but stable @6200 1.23Vsoc ...

Steven Dubaut

I would only raise FCLK after you've verified the MCLK/UCLK capabilities of the CPU.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

yeah I even tried 6200, would immediately crashed if I run memtest, again same the any voltages and timings I set. Kinda wierd I am even thinking if any of the bios setting I have done wrong. Should I just set fclk to 2000 before doing any memory overclocking? But mine can do fclk 2200 fine when I used 6000 kit

Stanthorus

A lot of CPUs simply can't run DDR5-6400 in 1:1 mode. Try 6200.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

I just bought a 6400mhz c32 2x32gb ram from Biwin which is a chinese manufacturer, and I am using 9800X3D and x670e gaming plus wifi from msi, and I even cannot boot stable in expo no matter the voltage sets in 1.6v, so frustrating

Stanthorus

this should work with that board. I didn't notice any weirdness with my X870 Taichi

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

I have 2x32GB Dual rank trident z neo sk hynix A CL30-36-36-36-96 ram, with a taichi x870e motherboard. Can i follow this guide? I cannot get it over 6000mhz successfully.

Corsair 2x32Gb DDR6400 XMP kit (32-40-40-84) kit which seems to be Hynix A-die on a Ryzen 9950X + ProArt X870E. Can’t do 6400, 6200 is semi-stable so running at 6000 using this guide and had it so close for so long at 30-36-36-36-72 with tightened secondaries as per this guide. It would always fall over at like 1800-3000% Karhu. Watching the 9800X3D DR video - I loosened TRAS and was even closer to stable and finally, today got it 10000% Karhu stable using Trfc of 500 instead of 432 and can increase TREFI from 40000 to 65535 and lowered VSOC to 1.1V. Pretty happy. Might try something in between 500 and 400 for Trfc but otherwise seems good. These guides are very helpful!

TC_off

is there a way to get rid of mismatched tPHYRDL ? using your v0.3 6400 easy on a 2x32gb kit with a 9800x3d

Mitchell Carruthers

Hey, I bought and built my first ddr5 platform this week with 2x16 a-die and the x670e gene. I saw your post on youtube about the spreadsheets just now which is great timing so I became a member. Thank you for your work. You've been great help since ddr4. I posted the triple rank wonky setup last 'react to timings' stream, the link that didn't work at first, that was done hugely with your videos help so thanks bunch. Anyway, I'm glad to contribute, but I'm also looking forward for you to pass the knowledge to the public in due time. I enjoy your videos, you rantertain so well :D edit: i've started on a 8400f, do you plan on doing stuff on the phoneix line?

MrSubuti

next step BZ ... go 8200 :D Personal experience, 8000 vs 8200 won't be much better tbh ... but either way, for the screenshot battle its cool and ... exploring how it scales its also cool :)

Pedro Sombreireiro

Opposite for me. Can do 6400 1:1 but ECC kicks in at anything above 2066 FCLK (1.25vsoc)

Jack E

copy paste mistake

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Why does the fallback have less vsoc (1.25) for 6400 ram than default 1.3 . I thought that less vsoc == less stable

TEGAN

2233 being stable is very rare. 6400 not working is kinda common. 6200 with 2233FCLK is certainly a viable option performance wise if 6400 doesn't work.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

After having system stability (Ryzen 9950X, Asus Proart X870E BIOS 0505 and Corsair 2x32GB Hynix M-die at DDR6200 32-40-40-32-64) I lost it with BIOS update to 0606 and again on BIOS 0706 - regardless of settings I had saved or tested previously. This lead me down a multi-week journey of reading, tweaking, testing, failing, trying again - setting by setting. This guide was a god-send and totally worth the Patreon membership. I was shooting in the dark until I realised perhaps my CPU is simply unable to do 6200/6400 without 1.3V+ VSOC so I lowered to 6000 with BZs settings and then dialed in. I had instant stability on the fallback settings, I then dialed in to "easy" and slowly tuned the last few timings. I've got more performance, bandwidth and a lower latency than I had with the 6200 settings that were stable before so very happy. Thanks BZ, keep up the good work.

TC_off

Is it common for the 9800x3d to be stable at 2233 fclk but not be able to run 6400mhz 1:1. Feel like I’ve both won and lost silicon lottery

Cameron Macdonald

some memory sticks can't do tRAS 30(though I only have 1 kit that has this issue). Also I didn't use to have so many 16Gb A-die kits. 16Gb M-die and 24Gb M-die don't usually do tRP much lower than tRCD. 16Gb A-die pretty consistently does tRP equal to tCL at 1.35-1.45V

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

I've not tried 4x32 at all. AFAIK it probably won't even work at 6000.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

How do these timings scale to 4x32GB? I know I'll need to fix up termination settings... getting set to install the 4 sticks of 6400CL32 I got discounted on Black Friday

attobird

In all of your YouTube vídeos you set TRAS 30 (6000-6400mhz range), but on the sheet is listed to set as 40? Why? Same for TRCD and TRP, on the vídeos they are at same value, but here TRP way lower?! Thank you for your channels.

I haven't managed more than 7000 on Dual rank yet.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Dual rank no chance of 7600+?

Fernando Cechinel

Any chance of a-die 7600+ on dual rank? Twrwrsd twrwrdd trdrdsd trdrddd?

I'd love to know aswell, got a M-Die

Well took your advice, Bz vids and some spreadsheets. Got 6400hz stable on the 96gb . Some decent times and now have sent this up so far pretty good. Not gonna lie kinda have more fun squeezing the gpu cpu and ram the playing games. I think I got a sickness. Lol Thanks again to both of you.

Sgr A*

Any updates on m die list? I have 6000mhz and trying to do 6400mhz which I can I do, would like to compare what you have tried and such :)

dick patricks

yeah just raising VDD and leaving all the timings the same should be enough to get CL28 or even lower CLs to work

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Hello. My is stable at 1.43 and VDDQ/VDD mem on auto (defaulting to vddq=1.3 and vddm=1.35) - gigabyte b650 aorus elite ax v2. VSOC at 1.3 though You can try to run 1.5 to memory, but i suspect temperature is going to be high. With voltages i wrote above ycruncher gets up to 47c and OCCT - 57. Timings : cl 28, trcd 38, trp 32, tras 40 (i dont have dGPU so might decrease tras once i get that, maybe)

I made a patreon account and got a membership just for this, thank you for all your work! If you raised VDD Voltage to 1.5v, would 6200 cl28 with the rest of your timings work?

Somebody Existing

Thank you bro I don't have as much time as I used to for tinkering and having a reasonably tight baseline is very helpful.

Lumivar

I followed what you and the BZ video. Running 2x48gb at 6400 mhz. 3200 3200 2133 flck 32 30 30 38 primary. Running test as i type. 64ns latency on aida64 with all the windows security stuff on, if that matters. Thought i had read it adds to your latency. Anyways that said wow big improvement. This may or may not stick, not sure if i care to much either way. Im honestly grateful for the knowledge ive gaided in the last week. Maybe once i get this dialed in maybe i take a shoot at the unicorn silicon lottery and try for the 6600mhz 1:1 lol. Thanks again Alto and Commander Bz much appreciation and respect.

Sgr A*

OK Commander BZ, that video was perfect answered exactly what i was looking for. Basically where to start on 1 to 1 or 2 to 1. So appreciated. Easily the best money ive spent in a while was your joining your patreon. Thanks again.

Thank you Bz for the link. Ive not had a chance to cruise though your vid collection. I will check it out asap and see what damage i can do after.. lol

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Oops.. hit enter lol. Raised voltage abit high on dram both 1.5 vsoc 1.35 cl30 on that. It actually posted and I was able to run Aida64 it was 12ns faster latency. Ran a 3dmark then back to stress test it. That went poorly. That said man it was fun. Thanks again for the reply and I hope to put your rules to good use. Best wishes.

Sgr A*

Thanks for the reply and gratz on the new puter, Alto. Hope you enjoy and are able to tune it to where you like. Thank you for the rule reminder and fclk frequency targets. I haven't touch 6800hz even the stock docp just cause the cl is 40 vs stock 32 for 6600mhz. This is part of my question whats better higher mhz, timings and/or ram amount. While i have 6600mhz cl32 96gb stable with 82ns latency (mclk/2=uclk fclk =2000) and same timings 192gb 5200mhz stable. Those are my starting places and wasn't sure with all that is dropping to 6000mhz on 96gb with super timings the way to go for the best performance or some other combo of mhz/timings and ram amount. Lol I know in reality I'll probably not notice a difference between alot of these. But im think like alot of others here it's the fun of the challenge of pushing for the fastest we can do. On an update I did take the built-in timings for 6400mhz and went up to 6600mhz made the uclk and mclk 1:1 with fclk 2200mhz

Sgr A*

Hi. I am no Buildzoid, but i am on a brand new PC myself and started dabbling in RAM as well as CPU OC (cpu 7800x3d and OC on it using BCLK). I cannot give much of the advice on timings, it mostly depends on what your ram can do, which you can only find out by trial & error, but when it comes to memory speeds the memory follows certain rules: 1) you run your memory in ratios i.e. 3:2 or 2:1 DRAM frequency : 6000 MHz > MCLK 3000 > UCLK 3000 > FCLK 2000 1 2 2 3 DRAM frequency: 6200 MHz > MCLK 3100 > UCLK 3100 > FCLK 2067 1 2 2 3 DRAM frequency: 7600 MHZ > MCLK 3800 > UCLK 1800 > FCLK 1800 1 2 4 4 2) Its best to follow these ratios, because you get latency benefit from it. Having lower latency is better, but sometimes having higher FCLK could be beneficial too, even if outside of ratio. For example: 2200 FCLK would be better than 2067 in 6200 DRAM setup, but not all CPUs can do 2200 FCLK. Also if you can not get +100 MHz higher or more than what ratio would suggest - it is not worth it i.e. 2067 to 2167 = Good, but 2133 to 2200= ok, but you leaving a little latency on the table. 3) 6800 MHz speed following the above rules and requiring the lowest latency is not possible, because you would have to run 2267 FCLK and that is unlikely that you can do that. As BZ said himself in one video - CPU capable running 2233 FCLK is a "unicorn". **On the other hand if you really want to you can try running 6800 MHz, but set FCLK to something lower. You will be loosing some latency, but its not going to be so much and also as well as BZ said himself multiple times: more frequency - more better. 4) It is more beneficial to run 3:2 frequencies if you can make 6400 or 6600 tight unless your CPU is capable of 8000 and above (from performance perspective)

Alto

First off thanks for what you and others here do. Newly retired old guy now enjoying his free time tinkering with tuning my new pc and playing a some games. This is also alot of information to play catch up on you and others help alot. That said looking and reading at this information i have 2x48gb dom tit 6800mhz ram x 2. So far ive run all 192gb at 5200mhz stable on 7950x3d cpu/x870 a gaming/aero rtx 4090. Also i have pulled 2 sticks and can run 6600mhz both setups same timings 32 39 39 76 tRC 115 tRFC 1350. Both are stable. Latency 93 94ns on 192gb 5200mhz and 82 83 on the 96gb 6600mhz. These are stock timings havent adjusted anything. Really im not sure which way to go or what is better. By this i mean is say 6800 mhz at like 40 50 50 110 stock timings 96gb, the 6600 mhz 96 gb with the decent starting times or go back to 4 stick 192gb 5200mhz. Which of these 3 is the better well faster option.. Trying to understand the value/weight of mhz/gbs and timings therefore i believe latency. So any input on this from all would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Also these sticks are Hynix M die if that matters.

Sgr A*

yeah those sticks should be able to run any of the 1:1 mode settings

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Thanks for cheat sheet. 2x32 are expected to be somehow able to reach these timings? Corsair 6600 XMP looks like good deal (CMK64GX5M2B6600C32 you recommended sometime in 2023) to run in 1:1 6000-6400 (based on silicon lottery)

zephyr

Thats very fair! Those 6400 settings worked a treat too, thankyou!

Joel McInnes

there's no settings for 6600 because I expect that like 90%+ of CPUs can't do 6600.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking (Buildzoid)

Watched your video on timings throughout where you wrote up the 6600 set information, where UCLKBCLK is 3:2 with FCLK, didnt spot any 6600 settings in the guide, did you end up doing any for those timings? Love the videos and guides by the way! Massive help!!

Joel McInnes

Thank you! I watch so much of your videos. Some of it sounds like foreign language. But it’s all educational. Currently Running 9800x3d on ROG x870e. CL30 6400. I’m using your guide for help.
