Sony’s interference with tasm1/2 and creation of the emoji movie is why I don’t trust them. I expected spiderverse to be bad and I still expect it’s sequels to be bad too.
Great vid btw, like that new static edit you were using in this video
Also I’m a $3 donation now, you deserve my money more than I do lol. Shame I can’t edit my username, thought it meant real name for like legal reasons so guess I’m just know as Ethan instead of funEman on Patreon forever

I always had a soft spot for the first tasm and the way characterization was handled. You can literally pick out the 2 0r 3 blemishes that really snub the Webb and Garfield power duo, and you get a really great a human story.
The story of his parents was to logistical. No one cares about the logistics of spider-man. Raimi and Webb both understood this and you can see it in the way Webb tries to present the story. The parents feel conceptually utilized and inspired, while the plot and logistics regarding their involvement feel flaccid and uninspired. I believe Webb would have given us just enough of Pete's parents to drive home his angst, but not so much to write himself into a corner of tangled extended CU's and all that nonsense.
The second Tasm really didn't need Peter's parents because Webb said what he needed to in the first movie. The second was just sony tacking on more logistical nonsense onto our swingy boi smh.
Something about that first Tasm always sat so well with me even though the movie as a whole was disconnected and almost broken.
I always thought the first suit always always represented the dysfunction and turmoil peter was experiencing, his ugly and angsty insides, while the second suit represented peter feeling pristine and has a firm sense of self understanding like most kids as they leave highschool and enter the threshold of young adulthood, understanding what they want to do and who they are.
Webb and Raimi both got done dirty but Webb and Garfield really got the crap end of the stick.

Absolutely loved this video Alex. This film will always be really special to me because despite all its flaws, it really resonated with me in a time when I needed Spider-Man the most. Watching Andrew Garfield’s first introduction as the character from comic con is now absolutely heartbreaking. There were so many people who wanted to do this film and character justice and it really is too bad, because I really would’ve liked to see a fully realized version of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man brought to life by Garfield.
