The dust is still settling since our latest dig, but there are still plenty more behind-the-scenes insights to come from both sites in the weeks ahead.
Upcoming posts include some great archaeology skills masterclasses, additional 3D models, and more Spoil Heap Q&As with Stewart Ainsworth, John Gater, Hilde van der Heul, Jackie McKinley, and Helena Hamerow... and let's not forget more of Dr Sam Newton on his Saxon lyre!
In the meantime, here's Naomi and Dani with a end wrap from the Knights Hospitaller preceptory site. As Naomi notes, the work doesn't stop after the digs – finds have to be cleaned up, processed and analysed back in the lab, trenches recorded and back-filled, and reports have to be written.
What's more, the huge task of post-production begins – reviewing and editing the hours upon hours of footage, adding graphics, reconstructions and voiceovers to create the completed episodes.
We'll be sharing updates and insights on the post-excavation and post-production processes as they unfold.
We will now also be returning to our series of post-excavation videos from last year's dig at Broughton Roman Villa. Coming up, Naomi and Dani will be discussing animal bones.
What's more, things are progressing with development on the third dig site. We'll be arranging another Site Wrestle session soon to debate the merits.
As if that wasn't enough, we have some very exciting new videos on the horizon, dropping in on a range of projects, that we cannot wait to share with you.
So please keep a look out for all the updates and announcements!
