Following our Knights Hospitaller dig, we next head off to central Greece to investigate an ancient settlement with a history spanning 1000 years!
Join us for the two-part premiere on the Time Team Official YouTube channel:
- Part One: Saturday 1st April, 7pm BST
- Part Two: Sunday 2nd April, 7pm BST
This Expedition Crew outing is a very different prospect to the classic three-day Time Team dig.
Derek and Lawrence are part of an international team, who have been working in Greece for over five years. Their fascinating research project is helping to uncover an ancient city hidden just inches beneath the surface.
We're privileged to follow their progress during a recent survey season, in this co-production with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Karditsa.
We'll be sharing this trailer and release dates with the general public very soon, so please keep the details of this post underwraps for now!

Time Team helped to popularize a particular kind of empirical educational media around the world. As the post-Brexit UK financials look grim, I think it's really smart and invigorating to reach out and partner with like-minded archeology groups around Europe/the world in order to do a new generation of Time Team, one that can share new kinds of stories of human activity from the ones that have already been covered in the UK. It's a strategy that embraces the community of excited archeology fans around the world, while also going to where the funding is. I'm hopeful, and good luck Derek and Lawrence!
