Lab Rats 2 Plans - Entering Phase 2

The release of v0.16 in a couple of days will include a couple of improvements to the way Lab Rats 2 works. The update will give me the ability to flexibly handle how characters refer to you/are referred to and to create lightweight outfit variants that are made up of multiple colours. v0.16 will also be the end of major technical updates and the beginning of phase 2 of development. Phase 2 will focus on introducing new, unique characters and producing detailed storyline content for each of them to tie the game together.

These unique, non-randomized characters will be people who play some sort of special role in your life. These characters will have their own story arcs, paths to corruption, choices for you to make, and relationships with other key characters. Your mother and sister are examples of characters who will be receiving far more detailed storylines in the near future. All of the other girls from Lab Rats 1 will be key characters in one way or another, as well as several new characters to be introduced soon. In addition, those previously unused locations in the world will be given a purpose (and other locations will be introduced as needed by the story!)

Alongside storyline content work, rendering improvements will take top priority. Facial styles and emotions in particular are going to be reworked completely to achieve better results. New body types/models will also be worked on to widen the variety of base bodies in the game. Lab Rats 2 characters may have a different style than they did in Lab Rats 1, but I want to achieve the same level of quality with them.

After v0.16 is rolled out I will put up a post with a description for some of the new characters I'm planning on adding and the direction existing characters will be going. Until then I've got some more work to get done to make sure the update is ship-shape!

I'm not sure if this was caught but there appears to be a slight error in my version. When you look at serum designs "Production Cost" is listed twice with the same value.

AND the SJW in you comes to the surface. Be careful now or I might suggest that you are trying to oppress me because I don't see things the same way you do. Yes, your quiet suggestions and intentional omissions and leading statements is exactly what a passive-aggressive does to try and get others to rally to their cause. If it doesn't get the traction that they hopped or blows up in their face they can always claim that they are doing something else or that they are the victim. LOL You jumped into this conversation trying to shame me to get me stop asking questions or making comments about a product that I have followed for three or four years and have an interest in supporting once again. However I have concerns where it looks like it is heading and want to know more. You can support those 11 developers all you want, it's your money. I like to ask questions and get answers before I hand my money over, I prefer to get something that meets my expectations or is on the path to meet my expectations and you have no say in that matter. Sorry if that makes you mad but you're the one who responded to my post and started this whole thing. You're not Vren or on his dev team so really you just stuck your nose in like a rude Millennial trying to be superior but all you have done is make yourself look like a tit on a bull. You know, Useless. Have. A. Nice. Day. :D ( I sure hope you know when someone is being sarcastic and disingenuous)

As a coder myself (though C/++, ASM and C#), it's always good practice to null/zero check before performing any form of division. Always assume you're getting bad input and that your users are idiots- Bad user, no biscuit.

script.rpy after line 657; You need a if the_serum.production_cost < 1: the_serum.production_cost = 1 I'm getting division-by-zero errors on a new game, no modifications. While running game code: File "game/script.rpy", line 7314, in script call python: File "game/script.rpy", line 8110, in script $ mc.business.player_production() File "game/script.rpy", line 8110, in <module> $ mc.business.player_production() File "game/script.rpy", line 723, in player_production production_amount = self.production_progress(mc.focus,mc.int,mc.production_skill) File "game/script.rpy", line 658, in production_progress serum_count = self.serum_production_array[production_line][2]//the_serum.production_cost #Calculates the number of batches we have made (previously for individual serums, now for entire batches) ZeroDivisionError: integer division or modulo by zero</module>

I didn't finish the sentence as a matter of common courtesy, but since you insist: "... or you are an insuferable asshole". (also, you may want to brush up on the dictionary, if you think I was being "passive-aggressive") And your delusions concerning how there can be no more than one person in the world who has problems with your dickish attitude aside, boy are you entitled...

Bingbong

Or are you that MGA guy on his main account. yeah, that sounds more likely.

James Smith

Or? or what? Talk about Passive- Aggressive. Don't have the balls don't suggest a finish. I have asked questions before and this is close to an answer. Don't like what I have to say, don't read my posts.

James Smith

This is probably the phase of development I've been looking forward to the most. But before we get too into things, do you have plans to implement threesome style events, the kind you'd see with Nora and Steph in Lab Rats 1?

Will the age of your employees will also be displayed in the info screen even if there is no special gameplay effect?

The game is about serums, i want an addict character in the game i dont know what they should be, maybe they are over sensitive to the serums, maybe they are building resistance to the serums and they want more and more i dont know if it should be a special character or just a character trait, and i dont think the game needs such character, its just one of my selfish ideas and i think such character might be entertaining

retchedegg

Can't you write something without sounding passive-aggressive? Either you aren't very good with words or...

Bingbong

Bless.

Mr. L

Thank you and I am looking forward to see what these new renders look like.
