Added 2017-12-17 02:46:31 +0000 UTCNow that the tech demo for Lab Rats 2 is out I'm going to be turning my attention towards it's next major milestone: the first public release version of the game. v0.1 will be the first version of the game that is actually meant to be played and enjoyed Over the last few weeks and months I have been adding functionality and features, now it's time to add content for all of those features. Here's a list of the things I want to add:
1) New clothing items, and a new way to organize and select them. The simple menu system I have right now works for a small number of items, like my test set I have in place right now, but I'm going to want a more sustainable way of showing everything to the player.
2) Tidy up the menus and backgrounds. A full UI design pass will have to wait for a future version, but I want to make sure all of the buttons are readable and descriptive.
3) Add new serum traits that can be researched. Researching new serum designs is the main form of progress in Lab Rats 2. I want to add more traits so to give a taste of what that will be like further along in development.
4) There are 8 or so different sex positions that are currently in the game as placeholders. I want to start writing up the descriptions for those different positions that describe what both people are doing. This will pull in information about clothing, character stats, and so on.
5) Write new character personalities. A girls "personality" is the dialogue set she has to use when you talk to her, or when she is offering her opinion about something. I want to write up a pair of personalities that highlight how the two can be different and produce characters that seem distinct.
6) Add a new character position. The only position that characters are rendered in right now is a neutral standing position. I want to add either a second standing position or a generic missionary position to show off how different characters and clothing sets can be put together from different angles.
7) Finally, I want to add some non-sex interactions with characters and add something for the main character to spend his money on. This might be unlocking new pieces of clothing for the outfit manager or bribing girls for a bunch of different purposes.
That's a lot of stuff to get done before the game is ready for it's public release and I'm excited to get started! I'll be posting dev logs and screenshots as I go to keep you all updated and see what you think.

Or maybe as CEO, you push the researcher(s) to "hurry up", "take short-cuts" or otherwise make the command decision to spend less cycles or time doing the necessary research to ensure effectiveness and safety :) The more you cut, the greater the chance that 'bad things happen' LOL You're developing an amazing game. I cant wait!

2017-12-19 10:33:14 +0000 UTCI haven't given a lot of thought to the in universe explanation of the all female staff. I might actually add other male characters (and avoid rendering them by making them simple ghosts).

2017-12-19 10:32:50 +0000 UTCOne thing I'm strongly considering right now is emphasising a "lead researcher" position in the company. Experienced researchers might develop unique serum traits that can only be researched while they're in charge. Inexperienced lead researchers might force bad traits to be included in designs, forcing you to re-research them or produce a flawed product.

2017-12-19 10:31:53 +0000 UTCThat's the plan. The various numerical stats can be changed throughout the game, but each character's "personality" is fixed and has specific dialogue tied to it. It means more work for me writing variations depending on obedience and sluttiness, but I think it's worth it. There may also be late game serums that let you change the total personality of a girl.

2017-12-19 10:30:32 +0000 UTCIt's a plan, the menu system right now is a functional place holder until I have time to make something else. One of the problems I have is that locations are dynamically added to the world, so I can't just create a single overworld map and call it done. Any map system will have to be able to handle an arbitrary number of locations connected in different ways. That'll make it possible for me to have other business open and close, your offices to move, and so on, but it'll take time to implement.

I don't remember your previous posts, but how are you supposed to find new girls for your laboratory? Even if it would be somewhat funny, I guess there won't be any paper with a text like "Lab assistant wanted: only hot girls allowed. Sluttyness is a welcome extra"...
