Lab Rats v0.4.1 is Live!

v0.4.1 is available to everyone! Get it here:

PC (Windows and Linux): Lab Rats 2 v0.4.1-windows

Mac: Lab Rats 2 v0.4.1-mac

Android: Lab Rats 2 v0.4.1-android

Lab Rats 2 v0.4 includes a complete re-rendering of all clothing items and body types in the game, the introduction of three new crisis events, images for the missionary sex position, and changes to the clothing system to make every item of clothing in the game colourable.

There have also been a few quality of life changes and updates to the UI of the game. A number of useless descriptions have been removed to reduce the number of clicks needed to move between locations, the clothing designer has been updated to support recolouring, and old serum designs can now be scrapped to clean up your serum lists.

And as a final treat, enjoy the full changelog (v0.3.1 to v0.4.1):

Thanks for finding this, this seems like a solid lead on what's causing the slowdown. I'll look into it and see if I can figure out what the issue is.

Vren

The slowdown seems to be a universal issue, I'm looking into it and trying to figure out what's going on.

After a "accidental dosing due to broken glass on the production line" event, instead of the usual "It doesn't seem like Whatsername is having any unexpected affects...", I got "It doesn't seem like <store.person at="" object=""> is having any unexpected affects...." BTW, it ought to be "effects" (the noun), not "affects" (the verb).</store.person>

Procurement seems to be capped to 750 units. Working there yourself does not enhance procurement.

The autosell threshold is apparently some nonsense value whenever you switch to a new serum. Since there is not a good way to see how much is in the sales stockpile (you have to do a transfer to see it), you can very easily run yourself out of business this way (already did so once). You might want to make the sales stockpile a clearly visible number in the inventory screen; it'd be great if we could see player inventory, business inventory, and sales stockpile for each serum type all in one screen.

Dubsington

The other change I'd recommend is allowing you to separately make your own serum - it's a pain to change production on your money making serum to make a couple specialty serums for the one girl in research you want to mess with.

I've done the same thing. It's seems to be more of a problem in this version, since the UI is more sluggish and it is easier to misclick.

If you choose Modify wardrobe for one individual, you are taken to delete wardrobe items.

Xargames

loving the new body forms.

Please God, let it be disableable in the preferences.....

>Right now it is very, very easy to go into bankruptcy Yeah... about that. I've played every version so far, know what I'm doing, more or less, and hit that on my first play thorough of this version, without going overboard on the hiring. The return on medical syrum is pretty bad now. Too grindy. Like, not enough sexy time per click grindy. Like, unpatron til it gets good level grindy. I'm fine with a dev working on play balance, but there is a dearth of hot naked 3D chicks and story, to be cranking the grind to 11 at this point.

Firing should have a simple verification after clicking. "Are you sure you want to fire X?" I've fired at least 3 employees on accident so far.

just a quick question, this game will have impregnation like the last one, correct?

If I rollback to a decision point during a sex scene, I get a stack trace. Let me know if you have trouble reproducing that and I'll send the trace. The UI is definitely less clicky. Thanks for that! It is still a little cumbersome, though. Here are some suggestions that would reduce the amount of clicking around I needed to do: * A "go home and sleep" button that appears wherever you are during night time. This would not only make it clearer that it is nighttime, but it would save a LOT of clicks each game. * Maybe dim the brightness of the screen at night? That would make it more obvious that it's nighttime. * Can you take the most common option under "do something" and make it a top level button? For instance, in the main office "order supplies" could be at the top level, but keep the other (less-often-used) buttons where they are at. If I could order supplies/do lab research/produce serum/sell serum without the extra clicks the first hour of the game would be much more pleasant. * Can you make the size of the sales stockpile more accessible? Early in the game when you have no sales staff that would be especially handy. Right now the only way I could find it was to go to the main office and "move serums", which is not intuitive. * Please consider making the "review staff" button accessible from the hiring screens. It is useful to check the stats on who you already have in a department when you are considering hiring a replacement. A general gameplay request: Start out by giving all employees the weekends off, but have a cheap business policy that makes them work 7 day weeks. That would really help players at the early level, and once you get going you can kick things into higher gear. Right now it is very, very easy to go into bankruptcy if you hire a few people right off the bat, and being able to get some free labor out of the player without having to pay costs 2 days a week would really help.

I got the same bug in the same place-The game is checking if the employee is slutty enough to remove her pants/skirt/panties to give you a better view, but there is a bug in the code to decide what items she is wearing. I can't read it well enough to figure out how to fix it :( You can ignore through, but I have to do a total of 4 ignores to get through the event, and she doesn't strip any clothing because of the bug :(

Aaror

I went to clean out my saves since they're not compatible anymore and noticed the new saves are 3.24 MB EACH. The old saves were clunky at 840 KB each when most games are between 20 KB and 200 KB. I suspect the slowdown is due to trying to generate autosaves after each action? They're also 3.24 MB each.

onen

I hope it catches on as a fashion trend.

Blackhalo

There seems to be an issue with the sweater in the Outfit Editor screen. The nipples pop out in front of the material... Unless this is a super kinky sweater.

TheMGA

Playing android version and its so slow and laggy. I know galaxy s7 isnt exactly new anymore but 2-3secs + just to recognise ive pressed a button. Also on the skills choice screen at the start chose my name and buisness, but then couldnt get the pop-up keyboard to close again, couldnt make any more selections and had to close and reboot.

Dave

Would it not make more sense for an employee bonus to come from the company?

>> Fixed "give cash bonus" events not removing cash from company funds. I haven't checked this version, but the description of this fix doesn't seem correct. The "give cash bonus" events are visible or not depending on *player funds*, rather than company funds, and hence they should deduct player funds instead. Edit: I've now checked the code, and the problem is indeed there: the bonus options appear or not depending on mc.money, but the funds are taken from mc.business.funds

Bingbong

Right now you need to click on the words "bra" and "shirt", rather than on the boxes with the words. I agree that this isn't good design, and I've pointed it out before.

Bingbong

The outfit interface doesn't work consistently. For example, I can't click on Bras or Shirts, and select anything.

Lazarus

Also, am I crazy, or does the basic serum without any upgrades actually lose money to produce?

Cody Renton

Is it just me or is the game a lot clunkier than it used to be? It seems like there's more lag than before while switching between screens, the travel system seems to have slowed down, and I don't think you used to get booted out of the submenu every time you tried to repeat an action (like researching or producing serum).
