Planned Changes to the Suggestion Mechanic.

I'm very happy to say I'm completely over my cold now and able to return to work on the next version of Lab Rats 2. The core focus of v0.5 is going to be a complete re-haul of the suggestion mechanic and refinement of the gameplay in general. Today I'm going to lay out my plans for the game and talk about what I hope they will achieve.

So here are the changes I have planned:

1) Girls will now have a "core sluttiness" and a "temporary sluttiness" score. Temporary sluttiness has a maximum value of core sluttiness + suggest + 10 (Why +10? We'll get there soon).

2) Temporary sluttiness will bleed away at a rate of 1 per time chunk until it is equal to their core sluttiness and the girls total sluttiness.

3) If a girl has a suggest score higher than 0 she will convert some of the bled temporary sluttiness into core sluttiness. The higher her suggest value the more efficient the conversion.

4) If a girl has a temporary sluttiness score greater than it's limit (usually because a serum has expired) it bleeds off four times more rapidly and ignores any suggestion value until it reaches the normal temporary limit.

5) Serums do not add suggest - only the highest value is used.

6) Obedience no longer interacts with suggestion and is increased or decreased directly.

The most important thing to note with this change is that girls will be corrupted over time, with their core sluttiness creeping up day after day as long as you keep them A) under the effects of serum and B) sluttier than they normally are. Seducing a character and having sex with them remains the single easiest way to build temporary sluttiness, with serum providing the easiest way to change that temporary sluttiness into core sluttiness.

Something to note is that temporary sluttiness has a base +10 included in it. This serves two purposes. First, it allows the player to apply serum after a random sexy event and still benefit from it. This reduces the problem of random events having effectively no impact on the game unless you are constantly drugging your entire company. Second, it allows you to build up temporary sluttiness without serum, which might then be used up by random events and converted into core sluttiness without serum use. You may be able to train girls without any serum use at all if you are persistent.

This new system should achieve several goals:

1) Content is released slowly throughout the game as you unlock better serum designs and are able to push suggestion values higher.

2) Grinding is not encouraged. You are encouraged to interact with characters enough to keep their temporary sluttiness higher than their core and to find ways to give them doses of serum when appropriate, but spamming the same events over and over won't make the process go any faster.

3) It is possible to train girls without serum, and girls are not all necessarily as easy to train as each other. 

Now I'm going to sit down and get to work implementing this new system and cleaning out the old one. Let me know what you think, if you seen any flaws in the design, or if you have any additions that might improve it!

This might already be implemented, but I never figured it out - Do the "random" girls you meet in the shopping mall, etc., have sluttiness and other scores affected by you interacting with them? Basically, could you set out to sluttify a particular girl outside of those you employ?

It seems to me that a girl with a high obedience score should convert more temporary sluttiness into core sluttiness while under the influence, unless that is already factored into things like how easy it is to get them to do something slutty in the first place.

I like the idea as it sounds a lot more "realistic", and should allow you gain some (game) effect from seducing women when you don't have any serum available. However, I have two thoughts that I will post below.

I'm guessing standard interactions will have a finite amount of uses per day/time unit.

To make sure I understand right, at the present it's just like, there's no limit to how high various stats can get? They can just keep increasing (effectively) indefinitely?

This is pretty interesting. Having the effects of corruption occur across a time interval rather than instantaneously sounds like an ingenious way to give the player more control over the effects of the random crisis. Two thoughts: - You didn't mention Happiness at all; - I don't quite see how these changes would affect grinding. So long as repeating the same action yields the same returns, the player will be encouraged to spam the action that increases the desired stat the most.

Loving the direction you are taking this, especially planned change #6 and goal #3 (I'm a huge fan of games having multiple solutions to a 'problem'). I'm curious as to how goal #2 will be approached as well the role Obedience will now take.

I really like what I read :) btw will you consider adding production lines, I really want to make different serums some for sale and others for internal use, but it's really a click fest to change production all the time! I'm also having serious performance issues on my 2,4ghz Linux laptop, I don't have them to such a strong degree on my 3,7ghz windows machine, although clicking has lag. On my Linux machine the lag is 5-10 seconds when I click on most things, sex is lag free

Very much in favor of these changes. As of now, I can use some of the most basic serums and basically fully corrupt a girl in a minute or two.
