Lab Rats 2 Development Roadmap
Added 2018-05-30 07:15:14 +0000 UTCNow that v0.5.1 is live it's time to lay out plans for future development. Here's what I'm planning to work on over the next few updates:
v0.6 - The major goal will be to rebalance all of the content in the game for the new suggestability system that was introduced in the previous update as well as set up a balance framework for all future content. I also have a number of UI improvements that will be implemented. The way serum traits are valued will be changed to make advanced multi-trait serums a viable way of earning money.
v0.7 - Content update, aiming at adding render sets for one or two more sex positions. The next thing to add will be accessories like watches, earrings, ect. I am also planning to modify the outfit system to handle partial outfit. A girl might pick her own underwear to be combined with the overwear of your corporate uniform. If time allows the last thing to implement will be cumshots that girls receive, hanging around or being washed off as they prefer.
v0.8 - Tutorial/Storyline update. This update will include a few extra facial designs, better facial poses, ect. as well as the first bit of proper storyline support. This will introduce the first non-random character: Stephanie from Lab Rats 1. An introductory tutorial will be created to guide new players through the basics of the game. Extra time in this update will go towards wring new character personalities and adding content to the personalities that already exist.
v0.9 and onwards - Past v0.8 the priority of different updates will change depending on how the game is feeling. Key things I would like to address soon are: Expanding the amount of content for systems already implemented (business policies, serum traits, sex descriptions, ect.); Adding in main character and NPC leveling up/improvement; Adding girl favourite positions (and fetishes, ect.); Adding specialised roles within the company (Head Researcher, Paid Test Subject, ect.); Adding rival companies (and ways to interact with them); Adding in town interactions (buying things, hiring locals, visiting homes, ect).
Let me know if you think there's anything else that should be on the list of future updates, or if you think there is something that should have a higher priority on the list.

i have noticed that when i have a few people and at night in main area where peeps are i cant get to all 30-50 people something has to be done with this i have workers leave cause they are unhappy and i cant talk to them as i cant select them then i get the call to "meet" and sometimes a raise isn't enuogh they wanted a "raise" during work to make em happy :)

2018-05-31 11:16:39 +0000 UTCIncidentally, can anyone verify that the breast/enhancement reduction effects actually work? I've have about 30+ successive time steps of no change, which while possible, is exceptionally unlikely. So I'd hoped to confirm whether the effects do in fact work.

2018-05-31 07:18:39 +0000 UTCOne thing that's bothered me from the start is how the protagonist is able to sell this formula and no one notices it makes people really suggestible. I think it would be interesting if this was made into a high risk, high reward option instead of ignoring the implications altogether. Potential negative consequences of selling serum that influences people: 1. Other guys/competing companies buy it and then poach your ladies. 2. You get cuckolded, because some people want that in their games. (Not a fan, but in this case I'd be all for it just to finally see the ladies fucking someone other than the invisible man for a change.) 3. You get some sort of Fine and are possibly forced to scrap a formula from sale because the FDA-equivalent is saying it has a narcotic effect on users and cannot be sold. Positive outcomes: 1. Ambient town corruption. Sell enough of this stuff and the shop owner's son might be playing grabass with his mom when you walk in to buy something, just because you made it available. 2. Side plot involving the government wanting to get in on the action. You can go along with their plans for chemically-assisted espionage, or you can flip the investigators, potentially. 3. The Mafia gets wind of what you're doing and you can end up involved in a sex slavery ring because they want you to work for them. (This can be a side plot or a bad outcome, either or.) The sky's the limit. I just think it's weird to ignore the elephant in the room with this. That said, I'm really looking forward to update 0.8, storytelling is what I'm looking forward to here more than anything.

2018-05-31 05:55:12 +0000 UTCPretty solid plan. one little request is that 'personalities' get phased in (even in just rudimentary form) as part of the v0.6 on the roadmap. I only say that because it might be easier to grow them along with the new game-play changes rather then adding them in afterwards. This is going with the assumption that environmental and plot conditions will be affecting the various girls moods in different ways.

2018-05-31 00:56:49 +0000 UTCRather than writing a whole new post that just retreads much of the same ground you've already covered, I'll just save time and space by replying or adding to points you've already made. I think your point are well-articulated. As far as additional locations and unique characters, I think these fall largely into the realm of "flavor" content, which one just assumes is a priority to come after the core gameplay mechanics are finalized and balanced, so I don't really have anything worth adding there. Means of improving your stats, as you've described, I actually gathered those roles would be filled by the "gym" and "hardware store" and "sex shop" and related things, and that they were placeholders in the mean time. That certainly seems to me the obvious conclusion, and that that would come later on. But I very much like the "individual notes" for girls idea. Would go a long way toward helping to differentiate them, and keeping track of what you were doing with who. Presently the economics of the game feels very close to being "done". That is, you can buy, sell, and grow the business in a basic way, and can accomodate expansion, and already in a manner that is neither too fast nor too slow. Takes me about, oh, 8 months or so in game just to have two or three employees "just right", so largely I think the balance is really good so far. I agree that additional "technology" upgrades in the tech tree there are certainly welcome. For the end game at this point, well, perhaps not "end game", so much, but rather what I feel like is lacking now is fun to be had with all the work I've put in. In short, at this point my opinion is that what is missing is "scenarios", in other words, events, things to happen-- I can bang them, but what for? What happens next, what are the consequences of that? That's the feeling I get. Fleshing out this stuff will make the game feel much more alive, I would say.

2018-05-30 22:58:12 +0000 UTCJust a few suggestions: Add an option during the 'Training Seminar' crisis for the player/mc to join the employee to also gain the same training. Can simply be double the cost. Also, could add an option to hire someone to come in and train an entire department. Cost could be per employee in that department and could take one time unit or the entire day.

I really enjoy your game, but I know that spelling and grammar can diminish perceived quality, so this little error, however minor, has potential to deter future prospects :)

2018-05-30 14:46:17 +0000 UTCI've been thinking about this a while, and I had several ideas that might be interesting to explore.<br><br>*More locations. To give the game a truly open world feel, there could be a number of extra locations to go to, with maybe 2 or 3 sub locations each. Off the top of my head: a bar, a dance club, the gym, a strip club, the beach, a public pool (part of the gym?), a college campus, individual girl's apartments/homes, your apartment complex with neighbors and whatnot, the library, a park, the mountains/national forest park (for hiking/camping activities), the airport/train station (possibly for special remote vacations, sales conferences for business trips), the police station (special events, corrupting police), the bank (investments, corrupting banking officials), perhaps when there's lots of money extra housing options (apartment, house, ritsy hillside mansion on private propery, etc).<br><br>More special characters. I think a lot of people loved all the character in Lab Rats 1. Seeing more special hand-written characters with special storylines and event chains to meet them sprinkled through the game wold go a long way to making it feel real. Perhaps there's a fitness instructor who works at the gym, a surfer who shows up at certain days at the beach, a belabored college student who studies late nights at the library, a lady cop/FBI/FDA investigator that's investigating your business especially if you're not discreet in your actions. The options are really endless, and add great potential for content additions in the future that can be completely modular.<br><br>Extra stats and ways stats can can be improved upon. Perhaps there's a stamina/strength stat that can be improved by daily exercise or going to the gym. Maybe it maxes out at 100, and slowly decreases over time so after you max it out, you can still go running a couple times a week to keep it high. Maybe it helps out during sex, or while trying to seduce certain girls. Maybe Intelligence and other stats can be improved by studying at the library, or taking night classes at the college. Some of these might be more expensive and time consuming, but more effective. Something to do with all the money you're earning.<br><br>*Custom notes on individual girls. It would be very helpful to record what your aim is with a certain girl, because when you're juggling 20 or 30 girls, it can get confusing between play sessions. Just a custom note file where you can record plain text would be very helpful, if it's something you can refer to anytime in game, or when you're with a girl, to look at her specific notes - maybe organized by name, or custom title.<br><br>*Extra serum options for changing hair color, build, complexion/skin color, and height. I don't imagine it's too difficult to swap opt a character's individual attributes with another, and this would be a fun way to add some more content into the game for people into transformation. (With serum pricing, maybe having special combinations of traits, or two traits from different categories add some special bonus to the sales price. Perhaps special events trigger where you receive limited orders for special serums with a large bounty price for completion, above the individual price of the serums themselves)<br><br>*More options for serum suggestions. Instead of just stripping/sex options, think about changing hobbies (make a girl love going to the gym, for example), changing ideas (sexual orientation, fetishes), changing goals and dreams (No, you don't want to go back to college, you want to make this your fulltime career), giving you money, moving in with you, going by a different custom name, wearing certain types of clothing (or avoiding them), stuff like that.<br><br>*Relationship statuses for girls. A girl might already have a boyfriend, or in rare cases, a husband. They can be persuaded to break up with their partners, or persuaded to avoid men entirely, or might be dumped if their infidelity is discovered. Girls might also be persuaded to become your official girlfriend, though might become jealous of others if they expect your faithfulness but haven't been conditioned far enough. Perhaps girls can be persuaded to move in with you, or marry you, and some relationships are more serious than others depending on personality. Perhaps the sluttier the girl, the more likely she'll end up in a relationship, or having one night stands, unless conditioned to avoid it. Maybe you can trigger certain date events by calling a girl up and doing activities she likes with her - going running, visiting the beach, going to ta club and dancing, visiting her house and hanging out to watch movies<br><br>*Extra hair options like mohawks, shaved heads, accessories like piercings or tattoos (maybe limited to the head), and extreme dyed hair colors like green, blue, or orange.
