Roadtrip to the Coast of Iwate 🌊✨

This amazing coastline view is 8 kilometres long and is full of interestingly shaped rocks and caves. My friends and I took a roadtrip here from Sendai (total drive time was about 3.5hr) and headed to the observation platforms overlooking the ocean. It was such a beautiful area even before we got to the views of the water!
These cliffs are located at the Northern part of Sanriku Fukko National Park. The park is immaculately cared for, there's a gift shop where you can buy some of the local specialties, and besides the viewpoints for seeing the cliffs there are also several walking paths you can take to enjoy the flowers and the wildlife 🌿
FYI: Observation Deck #1 is wheelchair accessible, and is located on the same level as the parking lot, but Decks #2 and #3 require a bit of a hike through the forest. All 3 platforms offer different viewpoints of the cliffs and lots of photo opportunities!
If you are able to rent a car the next time you're in Japan, I always recommend the coastline of Iwate for a great roadtrip 🚗 There are several different spots where you can get out and enjoy the sandy beaches, and even some spots that are nice for swimming! Jodogahama Beach probably being the best place for that👙

Oh that is so beautiful!! So happy you can explore more the Sendai area! Love this type of coast line. It remind me a little bit of Jogasaki Coast near Ito (Shizuoka pref), it was a lovely place to walk there too. It is always impressive to see all the infrastructure, and the paths so well maintained everywhere.
