Bullying in Korea is genuinely scary. And what's worse is that this type of severity of bullying isn't uncommon. That's why kpop idols get cancelled over bully accusations. I had so many friends who were always confused as to why k-netizens would freak out over a bully rumor. But when Koreans think of bullying, they think of stuff that could be out The Glory. Obviously, the Glory is probably like a level 7 or 8 severity out of 9 but I remember reading about a case from 2018 or smth about a bully force feeding a victim a lit cig and only getting a level 3 or 4 punishment... So at most, he only had to do community service! How bad does it have to be for a student to get suspended (Level 6)? It's scary...

It is definitely illegal to hit a student in Korea now. But in the 80-90s, teachers hitting students as corporal punishment was acknowledged. But even then, slapping is not normal. The punishment would usually be with a stick, on their palms or butts, not face. But it could get severe in the past. But now it is UNIMAGINABLE. Even raising a voice to the student could cause a ruckus from parents these days in Korea. It is a very different period and social context of Korea you are seeing in these flashbacks.

The actress from My Name is Han So-Hee and she is incredible! This actress though is Song Hye-Kyo and omg she does an amazing job. Also, the whole revenge plot isn't what's based on the true story but the bullying itself (like with the curling iron and stuff). Nope that’s not the “my name” girl. Fun fact: this girl is Song Joong-Ki’s (Vincenzo) ex-wife and they were in a drama together as well just like how the crash landing on you couple met and got married as well.
