This was so spot on and really fun to read. Once I watched the whole thing it all made soooo much sense lol but I started this with a completely different idea on how it would go. Really loved it and its ridiculousness (also accurate )

I watched this on a whim a few weeks ago not knowing much about it and I just think the ending was spot on.
This is my interpretation of the movie from the chefs perspective. You own a nice restaurant and you take the time to explain what goes into your dishes and the thought process behind it to possibly help customers appreciate it more but ultimately I feel like people like this just like to feel special and they don't care about how the food is made or where the ingredients came from. They just wanna have this fancy meal that they think makes them better than everyone else and they'll brag to their friends about getting invited to this exclusive restaurant but they won't take it in or appreciate it. Apparent by the older couple who couldn't even name one dish. Most chefs put their heart, soul and love into their cooking and with customers like that it's not surprising his love for cooking would be lost.
But then you have erin who's like fuck this, i don't like your food and I just want you to make me something that I know i'll like and that you'll love to make because there's no extraness there. You're making me an american classic with no frills and you get to see me thoroughly enjoy your cooking and be happy.
In other words a fuck you to all food snobs everywhere lol
