How to clear a dance floor at a house party in 1991 + November Store Discount Code!
Added 2020-11-05 22:18:40 +0000 UTCHi Everyone!
Oops! I was supposed to do a post about the updated store discount code at the beginning of the month. But we've been working and mostly watching the news! (as I imagine most of you have been)
Anyhow, to our New Fun Tier Patrons the discount code for this month is: NOVEMBERRAIN
As in November Rain, as in the Guns N' Roses song... I remember that video from when I was in high school. I also remember playing their song "Don't Cry" at a house party. The reaction from everyone at the party was as you would expect.
First there was confusion. A lot of blank stares...
"Why is he playing this slow song at a party?"
I stood there and let the whole first verse play. but as it rolled into the chorus...
BAM! I mixed in a double time instrumental beat from a Poor Righteous Teachers track.
One of the sillier mixes I had schemed up from my High School record collection.
This led to even more confusion.
The ol' one, two punch of awkwardness on the dance floor.
Even more blank stares as people tried to decide whether they should dance in double time to Don't Cry.
Well.
They didn't.
Actually one kid tried to dance to it, flailing his arms and headbanging... but then stopped a few moments later when he realized he was the only one grooving to this admittedly ridiculous mix.
Most everyone else vacated the dance floor and opted to go to the kitchen to get a snack instead.
The End
