Into the comedic mind of 8pus' tour manager, Amantha.

Hello Patrons, 

So as you may have known, we've been developing a tour mockumentary about Conjoined Octopus DJs on Tour called 8pus (working title).

The film project is currently on hold until we're back on the road again to collect more footage. But as they tend to do, universes will connect and collide.

I was invited to be on a little indie animation series that some friends are creating. I'll be able to disclose who the production company is when the series is done, but just know they're good friends from the music world. They explained to me how the setting would be a diner, and the scene would involve "Kid Koala sitting at a booth chatting with a friend until they were interrupted by a balloon that passes by the window." 

They asked me if I had someone in mind who could be with me at the booth.  I thought it would be fun if I was at the diner with Amantha, 8pus' tour manager.  They liked that idea!

Amantha is played by my friend and colleague Adira Amram. Some of you may have seen her perform on our Vinyl Vaudeville Tour. She and her dance squad "The Experience" aka Maresa (The Body & Soul) D'Amore Morrison and Jessi (Jessijamzzz) Colon would warm up the crowd every night with their rad set and then join me on stage for the Vinyl Vaudeville show. Super fun and silly times! 

So last week, Adira and I decided to record the voiceovers for this 1 minute episode. We don't know which one of the takes they will end up using in the series, but I thought I'd share all the takes with you for your listening pleasure.  

I'll post a link to the animation episode when it's live... and don't worry, the button about the balloon will all make sense (maybe) when you see it.

This animation will be finished and released long before our mockumentary film. So it's kind of like Amantha's first cameo! Similar in spirit to those super hero films where they briefly introduce a character in one film that eventually becomes a lead in another.  Only we don't have super hero budgets, and this is going to be much, muuuuuuch sillier. At any rate, I'm very excited about Amantha getting some airtime (even if at first it's in 2D animated form). 

FYI, Adira adlibbed all of these. I ruined a lot of takes because something she would say would make me LOL and spit my drink out. 

Anyhow, we had fun working on it.
