Here are some behind the scenes studio shots from the new video
1000 Towns feat. Coelacanth from the forthcoming album Creatures of the Late Afternoon.
This lyric video was made in our studio and animated by our friends Dale and Sylvie at SeeCreature Animation.
It started with some cardboard buildings:
and some cardboard letters...

here's the camera that See Creature used to do the stop motion animation....
it was placed on an automated slider that could be programmed to move a fraction of an inch every frame...
I made some tissue paper creatures to put in a few of the windows so it wasn't just letters in the building.
The program they used to animate this video is called Dragon Frame. It was developed by our friend Jamie Caliri who worked with Dale, Sylvie and Corinne on the stop motion parts of The Little Prince. This is how they can program the camera to move frame by frame since we wanted a "driving down the street" kind of POV.
Here's Sylvie from See Creature in the studio. She did most of the delightful letter animation in the windows. Those letters have so much personality!

Anyhow! Hope you enjoy the video! 1000 Towns and its instrumental version are available on the limited edition Creatures EP 4. The vocal version will also be on the 2LP album x Board Game which is just 5 weeks away from launch (April 14th)!
