Cardboard Cars, Test Drives, Radio Signals

Hey Everyone!

We are testing out one of the cars for the forthcoming world premiere of our FUNDERDROME Event which will take place later this summer in Germany. I built a cardboard shell for one of the cars. We took it for a spin at the park to see how it rolls. It was a sunny day at the park and there were people everywhere practicing some sort of close combat martial arts. But we found a patch of grass to set up some props and do a little test drive.

Things we learned:

-This "crawler" vehicle seems to move twice as fast when it's in reverse?

-The transmission range of the remote control is kind of short. Maybe this means the drivers might have to stand up and walk around the FUNDERDROME track during the races.

-It can knock over large cardboard speakers.

-We will have to build the side barriers of the track at least 8" high. Seems these crawlers can get over anything lower than that with ease.

-Maybe we need to add a derby style event, where the car has to knock down speakers, but without bumping the turntable (which btw is one of the DJ worlds greatest pet peeves). Maybe 2 minutes added to your time if you bump the turntable! LOOOL. I plan to live score the event, so I'll have to skip the record too in real time if that happens.

Anyhow, this is all very silly but I think it will be a fun event!

I'm intending to install a mini wireless dashboard camera to each vehicle. So that we can live feed the car POV to the projection screen when it's required.
