Fairy Tale (Air Date: 11/18/89)

(Outro: 5:30)

Tonight we have Fairy Tale, which I still really want to do as a watchalong sometime.

Alas, I couldn’t talk JB into it this month. He gave me super short notice this afternoon that he wants to do I Spit On Your Grave  as our monthly watch with him, and he wants to do it THIS FRIDAY!!! So, if you’re a Patron Saint, and you’re free this Friday night at 8pm ET, join us in the Discord for a deep dive with Joe Bob. i also talked him into hanging out for AEW Rampage afterwards, since that’s what we’d be doing right after the watchalong anyway. So please come join us for all/part of that if you’re able, and enjoy Fairy Tale in the meantime! 🖤

Any idea where to watch this? All I got online was Amazon on some random service. Thanks in advance!

John Schlesinger's Oscar-winning thriller Marathon Man—on par with Laserblast, two-and-a-half stars. So Laurence Olivier's chilling performance as Szell, the White Angel, no better than the butt-faced sheriff in Laserblast. According to Leonard Maltin!

I knew there were mutants over there! "Name of the Rose? Just as good as Laserblast!"

Servo: Outlaw Josey Wales AND Unforgiven! Oscar-winner. Quintessential Westerns, Eastwood at his finest. However, I think you know where we're headed with this, Mike. No better than Laserblast. Just recognized your name from the MST3K forums. I'm the Final Justice referenced whenfatkillsfat over there.

Not only was I aware of Maltin's rating for "Laser Blast"...I =agreed= with it.

Moviegique

Does Leonard Maltin give this Brand movie 2 and a half stars, though?

At least you know where to find Fairy Tales, in the comedy section of Full Moon.

Hoping this is the Charles Band flick - Can't Wait! (And for anyone who cares to - Read "Confessions of a Puppet-Master" - Awesome book about a CRAZY life! :)

Vis a vis Fairy Tale, I think JB's probably right that it's the best-in-class. This was a total thing in the '70s, hard- and softcore fairy tales and most were abysmal.

Moviegique

Dangit. Making it hard on the MST3K crossover fans!

Moviegique

I have the Joe Bob commentary track on that, will be interesting to hear his thoughts now.

Zerocool

It's a quirky erotic movie. You can tell Charles Band influences on it that kinda became what you expect out of full moon. One day 🥰
