Healing

Good morning!

It is fascinating how God leads us to healing. It seems much of what we do to ourselves rapidly ushers in disease and destruction. However, God made our bodies resilient and repairable!

We can all point to things we do in our own lives that might not be healthy. Whether these things are very obvious like junk food or they are more subtle like buried rage. These things lead to the breakdown in the design of how God created us.

Why do we do things that aren’t healthy? Why do we bury emotions that are destructive? I was talking to our 18-year-old son about those things this morning. He always has interesting insight into human behavior.

He brought up the fact that it seems that “everything” is being shown to slowly kill us. Most recently, as an example, microplastics are found everywhere and are destructive to our health. As he said, he feels many people think that because so much is bad for us, we cannot avoid all the problems so perhaps it makes it easier to justify things we overtly do that aren’t healthy.

I would sum that up as a somewhat hopelessness that pervades culture along with our personal lives to some extent. However, I don’t believe we have to stay in that hopeless mindset. We have choices and we also have responsibility.

The way that I personally make peace with much of this is paying attention to the wisdom and discernment that the Holy Spirit gives. As I become aware of things that don’t honor the gift He has given me, I have a choice to turn around and do better. If I discover that inward attitudes of my heart are slowly tearing me down from the inside out, then I get the exciting discovery of making a change that penetrates all the layers of my mind, body, soul and spirit.

God has given us so much. The world also offers so much.

Which one leads to life and which one leads to death……? Most often these moment by moment decisions slowly take us down one path or the other. If you are like me, I will tend to look down at the ground on the path I’m on to avoid tripping but fail to see what is all around me. Sometimes we need to look up, look around, and notice where we are and where we are going!

Thank God that He always leads us to life! Let us choose life today!

But thank God, who is always leading us around through Christ as if we were in a parade. He releases the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere through us. 2 Corinthians 2:14 CEB
