...I have a lot of opinion stuff on this scene in particular that doesn't belong in a translators' note, so Imma dump that in the comments. I should warn you up front, I talk about some negative stuff and get a little emotional down there.
Also Note: I try translate lines being as faithfully as possible to the original intent. In this case, it means I kept one line which I would say is a bit bigoted, so fair warning.
By the way, I saw the first Made in Abyss movie in theaters this week (I guess it's a recap of some of the TV series), and that stuff was terrifying in a way I haven't experienced for years. Those kids are taking an expedition into what's clearly hell or something like it. I guess the feeling of wanting to scream "No, you two need to go BACK!" is part of why people watch horror movies. (Update: I also saw the second movie and it turned me into a helpless child.)
